Yea he's totally not interested in making money. He probably puts in thousands of hours at the table cause he's just bored.

I did not expect Gus to read this:

Dealer: SallyWoo zeigt Drilling, Neunen (High) und 7,6,4,3,2 (Low)
Dealer: Gus Hansen zeigt zwei Paare, Neunen und Vieren (High) und 7,6,4,3,2 (Low)
Dealer: SallyWoo gewinnt den High Pot ($14,000) mit Drilling, Neunen
Dealer: SallyWoo teilt sich den Low-Pot ($7,000) mit 7,6,4,3,2
Dealer: Gus Hansen teilt sich den Low-Pot ($6,999.50) mit 7,6,4,3,2
Parasense (Beobachter): Vagina Lion Vagina Lion
Dealer: Hand #31926766044
Gus Hansen: lol
Dealer: SallyWoo hat noch 15 Sekunden zum Handeln
Parasense (Beobachter):
Dealer: Gus Hansen gewinnt den Pot ($11,999.50)
mark9934s (Beobachter): pannekoek

If he is *primarily* interested in making money, then he is doing a pretty poor job of actually making that happen.

He might be bleeding money all over the internet, but he's likely still scoopin' the finest twenty-something year old cooch Europe has to offer. Sick life.

I think he tries to break even/make some profit in his lifetime online career so as people stop considering him a fish/whale or as the biggest loser as a pro...

No offense, but I doubt he's risking millions of dollars so that other people will perceive him as being a good player. As the old saying goes, "wolves do not concern themselves with the opinions of sheep" (or something like that). He's won millions in tournaments. He's had big wins in cash games. He's sold a business for a lot of money. He doesn't need to prove anything. He's already way more successful than most people in the poker world will ever be.

I think he plays because he honestly thinks he has an edge, especially in the limit games (meh). The last time he appeared on the 2p2 Pokercast, he talked about the huge downswing he was on before Black Friday and basically said he always believed he'd get it back. He probably thinks the same thing now, that he's just riding the variance train at the moment.

To MrSawyer:

By people i mean mostly top online pros and secondary the poker community.
Also,im talking about online because in live poker and generally in life everyone knows that he is a big winner.
But ,dont you think that he is trying to win some back because of his ego to prove that he is a beast in every aspect of his poker career?

No? I think that's the way you interpret his actions. Maybe that's what you would do if you were in his shoes? Sure, it's possible his ego may be a little bruised after some of the beatings he's received in recent months. But, if I was going to speculate, I'd say that his primary focus wouldn't be showing Ben Sulsky and Ike Haxton that "I can do keep up with you online kids!"

I'm going to go off of what he's actually said in interviews--that he enjoys playing online because it's incredibly convenient. He gets to live in a beautiful country and play poker whenever he wants. I think it's as simple as that. I really do.
