He's a great poser as well - great sense of style.

Ike has a serious side too however - here he's making an important point using hand gestures. He has tactically positioned himself in front of some books to appear more well informed - classic GTO interview techniques.

Cool if any of these big signings result in partypoker cementing a larger online market share but idk what the point is in a bunch of live pro ambassadors when party already seems to big successful live festivals already?
Does Fedor holz , Ike , JKoon etc really ever play online anymore besides the big series / random high rollers that party has? Haven't really heard of anything from fedor or jason since they signed?

It is about brand image, perception and credibility.

Without knowing specifics of their deals and roles, it might just be the above or could include consultancy in the same way that Patrick "Plenopads" Leonard is a sponsored pro, consultant and spokesperson.

As much as people love and respect many of Stars' sponsored pros, Lex Veldhuis and Chris Moneymaker are two that I really like, I think Stars need to respond to this by bringing in some big names themselves, people who are top players, not streamers or linked to showbiz or other sports. Poker, poker, poker please, not gimmicks.

He bombed? That's news to me.

Given... his show didn't reach Rogan/Joey Diaz heights in terms of viewership, but the 13:1 Like-to-Dislike ratio outdoes Eddie Bravo's flat earth rant. I thought Ike's JRE interview was superb.

Very happy for Ike as I respect him as a player and more importantly as a man of principles. Hopefully he works behind the scenes as well.

If they wanted to go that route, they would have renewed the contracts of their big name players instead of getting rid of them.

pretty sure they are banking on the popularity of streamed high roller final tables. its easy to get a patch to the final table because the fields are so small. they are likely moving away from pros that grind WPTs since they rarely final table and the WPT coverage is pretty boring

A few of the big names weren't really getting results over the last 2 or 3 years and were basically ~break even live MTT players during that period.

Jason Mercier stands out as the player who has continued to crush but a few of the others haven't.

The criteria of who is a Pokerstars pro has clearly shifted towards the amount of social media reach the player can gain, mainly by streaming, or if they are prepared to put the hard yards in, in some other capacity for the company.

Def top 3 Rogan casts for me.

Hope he gets on the pokercast soon - can discuss what it's like telling stars to F off vs being told to F off by stars.

Is he an American? If yes, how can he play on Party Poker? If he can't play on Party Poker, why would they hire him as a representative?

How many people really care about that? Maybe 17 or 19? I am pretty sure even the vast majority of people who follow tournament poker have no idea how much players are up or down. They check how their favorite players are doing and see who wins or final tables big events, but that’s it.

They have (arguably) the biggest name in poker under contract and besides that focus on sponsoring people who have a large following.

I am not saying one approach is better than the other, but Stars did in the past what Party is doing now before deciding to change paths.

American citizenship isn’t a factor in determining if somebody is allowed to play online poker or not. Only residency is.

Rogan was good but Ike's interview with the Canadian stoners marketing their flotation tank business was better because he gets more control over the conversation than when he's with a professional interviewer.

pp is trying to attract all those who feel rejected. they can grow and use the pre BF playbook.

ps tries to get new customers. probably 99,99% of all the people, who know Ike, already have a ps-account (and have decided if/how much they play on ps). on the other hand, more than 90% of all those Kevin Hart maybe never thought about online poker

anyways ... this year will be very interesting

I don't see the point of yet more pro's being signed. As others have mentioned, people who know the pro's likely already have accounts at Party. They are also more likely to be regs and not recs. Do they really need more reg infestation?

I think it's the result of a lazy marketing dept. "Yeah, go sign all those pro's that Stars pissed off, that'll show 'em!".

If Haxton even brings in one new poker player to Party, I'll be shocked.

Party needs to sign people who are outside the realm of poker and that play poker recreationally. Make the pie bigger, it shouldn't be a zero sum game.

I'd suggest some Bollywood actor or young, popular musician.
