A better solution is to find an alternative vendor, who have a clean history and impeccable reputation, and demand that poker sites switch to them. Are there any such alternatives?
Iovation does seem to be the best choice of vendors from this standpoint. But that doesn't let them off the hook and they should not be allowed to be licensed for the online gaming sector in the U.S. (or anywhere).

OTOH, if they dump Pierson and Karl, and set up a fund to compensate all players who were not fully compensated for the cheating as well as anyone who lost money on UB or AP due to Black Friday, then I don't think players would continue to oppose their licensing. In the long run, the millions they would need to spend to do this will easily be covered by revenues from the regulated online gaming markets.

Paraphrasing a popular 2+2 meme using a quote from that article

Every day, iovation stops more than 150,000 fraud attempts...
But how many did they let through?

Really disturbing that the best choice for Internet gaming fraud protection is Iovation. Who is deeply involved in one of the biggest Internet gaming frauds known today. Just saying that they are the best option makes my skin curl!! What the!!!

If you read the PRs over the years there are many companies that have incorporated Iovation's Reputation Manager into their platform. This potentially taints the entire verification system in the US. In all seriousness, no company that has ever integrated their system with Iovation should be able to do business in the regulated industry. I wonder what that would leave in terms of security companies and if there is a way to reverse engineer these mergers of information.

xposting this from the smoking gun thread as it probably belongs more here

came across this thread and noticed couple of interested posts:

The first post contains:

"EWORLDHOLDINGS. hmmmm. hahahaa.
This info here http://www.ultimatepoker.com/about/index.html or inquiries@eworldholdings.net"

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...54&postcount=1

Another post has this:

"Excapsa owns domain names, including UltimateBet.com and UltimatePoker.com"

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...0&postcount=22

Now obviously ultimatepoker is the new http://www.ultimatepoker.com/

So, if it was posted in '09 excapsa owned the domain, is there any possible connection with the new site or has there been any clarification on this?

Or just unrelated?

But we already knew that. The domain seemed to pass into the hands of some affiliate farm site after that, and finally ended up somehow in the hands of Ultimate Gaming. There isn't any evidence to show a direct connection between Excapsa and today's UltimatePoker.com. It's just part of the chain of ownership of the domain.

On December 20, 2008 Hellmuth was playing $200/$400 heads up limit hold em on , where he was at the time a spokesman, when an apparent software glitch occurred. The $5599 pot was awarded to Hellmuth, even though he held the worst hand. (His opponent held K♦ Q♥ for Three Kings and Hellmuth held 10x 2x for two pair.) This hand became the subject of considerable controversy in online forums due to Hellmuth's later comments about the hand. Immediately after the other player informed him of the error in awarding the pot, Hellmuth simply commented, "You wanna play or what?" and "I play U limit, right now." In addition, when later questioned about the hand, Hellmuth commented that he had experienced such errors a hundred times in his online career, "maybe 50 the wrong way to them and 50 the wrong way to me."[32] (This contradicted the official statement of Ultimatebet that no other cases of this error had been found.[33]) Finally, the previous cheating scandal at Ultimatebet led to suspicions about the plausibility of the company's explanation for the computer bug that they claim caused the error

Re: Service Provider License Application of CAMS, LLC, for Online Gaming

Dear Sirs,

It has come to my attention that CAMS, LLC (http://www.centralams.com/) has applied to be a service provider for online gaming services to the Atlantic City casinos. I would like to provide some information regarding a connection between CAMS, LLC and the largest cheating scandal in the history of online poker.

CAMS, LLC is a vertical market company operated by Verifi (http://www.verifi.com/), offering the Verifi “Intelligence Suite” of “best-of-breed risk solutions” to the online gaming industry. Iovation (https://www.iovation.com/) is a third-party vendor to Verifi and CAMS, LLC, supplying age and identity verification services and player fraud prevention for the Intelligence Suite. Two of the co-founders of Iovation, Greg Pierson (CEO and Board member) and Jon Karl (VP Corporate Development and Board member) were also the founders in 2000 of the once-popular online poker site UltimateBet.

In 2008, the UltimateBet “superuser” scandal came to light through the investigative work of a number of astute players. Through further investigations, by both the players and eventually the Kahnawakee Gaming Commission, it was found that a “god-mode” was written into the UltimateBet software, allowing those in the know to play on the site while seeing all the cards of the other players. This was used, starting in 2003, to steal tens of millions of dollars from registered players. The hard evidence points to knowledgeable participation of both Pierson and Karl in the UltimateBet scandal, and the siphoning of millions of dollars from the stolen player funds into the development and operation of Iovation. Ironically, detection of exactly the sort of cheating which was perpetrated on UltimateBet was part of the design intent of the Iovation (originally ieLogic) software.

Here are some sources which provide further background information on the Ultimate Bet scandal:

http://www.gamblingsites.com/bio/ultimatebet/

http://haleyspokerblog.blogspot.ca/2...ing-names.html

http://www.doubleheadpictures.com
(Scott Bell is creating this film and can be a good source of information on the scandal: call at ********* or email to ********* )

Information on the evidence that has surfaced which shows the direct involvement of Greg Pierson in the UltimateBet cheating scandal can be found here:

http://www.legalpokersites.com/blog/...cordings/4044/

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/29...er-ub-1329842/

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/29...g-gun-1330700/

And the audio evidence itself, in raw form (two files: DW_A0018.wav and DW_A0024.wav ), can be downloaded here:

http://www.pokerxanadu.com/ub/

The four voices in the audio files are Russ Hamiltion (a player and principal of UltimateBet who used the god-mode to steal player money), Greg Pierson, Daniel Friedberg (legal counsel to ieLogic and later an executive of Excapsa, which became the corporate owner of UltimateBet) and Sanford Millar (business partner of Russ Hamilton and a lawyer specializing in offshore wealth management).

Travis Makar, a former assistant to Russ Hamltion, holds this evidence and many more documents related to the UltimateBet cheating and cover-up. He can be reached at: ******************.

Any participation by any person in any online poker site scandal should not be overlooked in the licensing of companies for US-regulated online gaming. These persons should not be afforded any opportunity to benefit from the players who are being protected by the New Jersey gaming laws and regulations. Please let me know if the DGE will take this information into consideration in their background investigation for the licensing of CAMS, LLC.

Sincerely,

********* (a concerned player)
And here is their response:

Quote:
Dear Mr. *******:

Your information was received by the Division and will be reviewed. Please be advised that Division policy does not allow us to comment on investigations for licensure or the status of same. Should we need additional information from you, you contact information will be retained.

New Jersey Division of
Gaming Enforcement
Not much of a response, but at least they will look at it.

I'd like to send similar information to foreign gambling regulatory authorities in foreign jurisdictions where Iovation operates, but need some help finding info on:

1. Foreign jurisdictions where Iovation is licensed or operates as a service provider to online gambling/poker sites.
2. Regulatory authority contact info for the jurisdictions.

I might also need help to translate to the foreign language, or at least to proof a google translation.

Volunteers to handle specific jurisdictions are welcome as well.

Note: To be added to the letter next time for UB scandal reference:
