i cant say how Rob would pay this out of his pocket, i think he'll just be routing it for partouche. Tapie is behind the ISPT, he has enough money to buy Full Tilt, fronting 1m for him would be way less of a problem for him than Rob (although i doubt it would be much of a problem for Rob either). i imagine DTD is just there to provide some legitimacy

As an organiser of poker tournaments on the same continent, should you really be publicly commenting on competitors? Seems pretty stupid to me.

No way in hell I'd pay to play this event after the bulls**t ISPT has come out with, there should be a boycott of everything they're involved with.

DTD has lost my respect for partnering with them, obviously they didn't do their research in regards to the lies ISPT have been spreading.

Carter's blog post is very compelling and it is obvious from a brief search and read through this thread that Rob from DTD is a pretty reputable, intelligent and well liked individual.

I wouldn't expect it to do anything that ISPT touted for months, but a 1 million dollar guarantee to first seems to indicate that the tournament will be a decent size and perhaps may even be a good value to players (overlay for instance, security that you'll get paid and not cancelled last second).

So i'm one of the people that attended the press conference two days ago. Like most of you i had my doubts about the whole thing but after the conference and speaking with Rob and Simon ISPT looks a lot better imo.

I don't think this was a scheme at any point, the only bad thing that they did was that when they probably got too excited when the 'ispt project' was laid on paper. If they were a bit more reserved and annouce the tournament just this year with every detail available for the press, there wouldn't be any conversation on the legitimacy of the event.

A few details about the payout

- will be published Tuesday on hendonmob
- will start at 600e or something
- similar structure as the WSOP ME
- there are 'talks' to change the 70% payout to 50%

How can they change the payout structure when day has already happened for some people? The tournament has started, the online part is not satellites, it's the actual start of the tournament/

I wonder if they will address the issue that some people who have busted have already cashed?

Partouche.fr 300 euro sat got 136 runners again, pretty good..

Back when this was meant to be a bigger buying, a lot of people won seats via the partouche poker tour. Obviously the seats they won had a higher value than the current value. ISPT converted the seats they won into multiple entrys for day 1. Therefore, there will be quite a few people entering playing every day 1 on partouche.

There are people discussing this on the French forum Club Poker, some seem not too happy about it.

Rob is basically taking a huge gamble with the intention of making DTD an international name. I would guess this means things have been slow at DTD so he has less to lose if everything goes wrong. Its not really about the money for him, the guy is super minted and has run DTD at a loss for years (especially with huge overlays and guarantees that are always honoured). For Rob, DTD is more of a super home game, a testament to how much he loves poker rather than a business be wants to make money off. We'll see how this move works out, and it may seem misguided, but it gives me a bit more respect for Rob, in a very weird way of course.

^^^^ That was mine. Anyone who has followed my stuff knows I have been super critical of the ISPT the last 15 months or so. I am shocked how much my attitude has changed (The idea of people playing laptops inside a stadium is still uber stupid tho imo).

I made the final table of a £50 UKIPT side event with Rob a couple of years back. It was £50, and whatever the first prize was he would probably wipe his arse with that amount of money - but he took it so seriously. He took it more seriously than me for whom the money might have meant something.

Really got loads of respect for how serious he takes poker, and how competitive he is, from that experience. I think he is just someone who loves challenge and competition.

I basically agree with every word in Barry Carter's blog. DTD are the absolute pinnacle of European poker and every time I've been there I've had a great experience. This really could save the event.
