Just noticed you are from Bristol and not Bordeaux Pascal. Did you see Roberto Romenllo and Rana were at the press conference. James Dempsey has confirmed which also adds weight to this going ahead. There were loads of lads from Bristol in Dtd like Stuart Kinghorn who all said they are gonna get behind the event. I reckon this could take off.

Indeed. If they do get there it'll be down to DTD and some luck on ISPT's part. I will always have contempt for Partouche and ISPT due to this and so many other reasons.

Carter's blog post is very compelling and it is obvious from a brief search and read through this thread that Rob from DTD is a pretty reputable, intelligent and well liked individual.

I wouldn't expect it to do anything that ISPT touted for months, but a 1 million dollar guarantee to first seems to indicate that the tournament will be a decent size and perhaps may even be a good value to players (overlay for instance, security that you'll get paid and not cancelled last second).

So they saw an opportunity to lose money? There is no way this is a smart business choice, it's ill thought out.

He was referring to my column, which suggested even if DTD pay a huge overlay it might be worth it for the marketing benefits.

why?

i think all costs will be covered by ISPT. otherwise what are they offering? a failing tournament that is going to cost them loads of money? by teaming with DTD, they'll have to offer DTD something. give DTD a freeroll and ISPT save the money on paying out for costs etc plus embarrassment for no runners

I've been a critic of this idea until DTD stepped in, now I have no choice than to see that the both sides of the coin are winning for the players: either it will be a huge success for all, or just for the players because of a huge overlay. Anyway, I bet anyone that this tournament will be taking place as stated by Simon.

What he meant, but was being polite, is now it is being guaranteed by someone who understands the definition of the word.
