The likelihood of the approx. 20,000,000.00 prize pool happening is 99%.
Other things that are 99%: According to himself, the odds of Ken "Teach" Aldridge raising the 1 Million Dollar buy-in for One Drop.

Oh, people can come up with statistics to prove anything, Dos. 40% of all people know that!

Spoke with someone prominent in French poker media, they said to expect the ISPT press conference to take place later this month at Wembley Stadium.

Hoping carfax will return with further news, he hasn't posted since July 31.

By next year, they're expecting 30,000 players for a 600€ rebuy but, after an extensive ad campaign on 2+2, pokernews.com and in every poker magazine in existence, they have exactly 463 followers on twitter.

'nuff said.

They can just buy some followers and make it appear they have a lot of interest. Shortly after Liz Lieu was named an ISPT ambassador, I saw she zoomed over 160,000 followers for some reason.

I'm pretty sure I saw Patrik Antonius with a ISPT patch on twitter yesterday, but now it's nowhere to be found.

Sam Trinckett was recently named an ambassador.
ISPT are also partnering with APAT which could attract a few more players.

In before overwhelming disaster, or vastly disappointing turnout depending on whether they keep the guarantee or not

What happens if it's rainy or windy on tournament day?

they said earlier in the thread that they had reserved indoor rooms that could hold all the players if need be for rain. not sure if this still stands obv as it was months ago.

here is what im curious about carfax plus a couple suggestions:

one thing i would be worried about is all this televised coverage. yall make it sound like this will be some sort of super bowl or something. but what drives people to watch poker on tv is recognizable faces. however, this is not a format that will bring in recognizable faces. do yall expect phil ivey, durrrr, galfond and other top known pros to go sit in stadium seats with a laptop for 2 long days? i know that is probably why the buy in straight to the live section is in place, but that takes away the opportunity from the big names to get big stacks and have a real chance to win the thing. the fish on heaters will have an advantage on the top pros by the time they enter the field making it way less likely that there will be any going really deep, which is what people look for in tv poker.
a couple suggestions for the play
i think for it to work there should be:

affordable alcohol and concessions and a way to sit with friends and family-

there are tons and tons of people who play poker recreationally and know basic rules and strategies. however, they dont have the interest to sit and play online like people in this forum do. they like to socialize, drink, and have a good time with their friends. it will be tough enough making live players play online (many people who are fish in live tourneys are older and may not have/know how to use a laptop) and sit by themselves in a stadium (will their be seats for their families or is it just come by yourself and sit all day on a computer?). i think it would be a big mistake to assign people to a section. you would be much better off letting them pick a section with friends or family and then having like 1 person from each section sit at each table. if a father/son come to play together they will be pissed to have to sit separately in randomly assigned seating all day and stare at a laptop. this would also allow them to take joy with each other when winning a pot and talk about it with friends etc. they also want to drink and play. this is not a 10k event, it is an event that people will actually be able to afford somewhat if they make it a "vacation" type experience. make the alcohol and food affordable so they can enjoy themselves and feel free to buy in multiple times. (no one wants to sit and watch their friends continue to play once theyve busted, especially after a few beers)

unlimited rebuys for day 1 and 1 rebuy for day 2 to keep people around-
make the buyins day 1 unlimited to give people the feel of just having a good time and having some drinks with buddies. this will obv help you meet your guarantee, assuming it still exists and also make the first couple of days feel like more of a light atmosphere rather than a worry that you could bust out on any given hand. think of how much more you could make off the guys who buy in a couple times and bust and then have had a few drinks and start getting degeny. seems like a casino saying, "i know you drove/flew to vegas but you can only lose a little bit and were gunna cut you off". bad for both parties. then on day 2 let everyone come back that wants to and rly start narrowing the field. give them 1 rebuy at the beginning of the day or something so you can try to keep as many people around to watch the day three action as possible but obv cant keep allowing unlimited rebuys the whole tourney.

opportunity to puchase like a box seat area for wealthier players to play the online part-
this could help solve the issue of top pros avoiding the event. have the box seats in the stadium stocked with comp chairs and desktops or something and free food if they want to rent it out for a bit more.

more coverage of the side events-
ive barely heard any mention of the side events at all. i think there should be more mention that there will be other activities to do one you bust. have like running cash games and other casino games if thats legal and make sure people know they wont be traveling very far to only sit in for a couple hours and be done.

and i think it would be a bit of a game-changer if it could be done somehow, but you could so an app or something that people could download from the stands after they bust out that would let them see hole cards live on the featured table. (could have the featured table in a large glass box or something on a main stage to keep people from shouting known hole cards and no electronics allowed inside.) you could even work it in your favor where at the featured table they have like jersey-like shirts you give them that have their name/favorite hand on it or something so you could make sure they arnt hiding anything. i think the audiance would like to be able to know who is who etc. would be good if on the app you could have like some super basic stats anyone can understand so that people could rly get behind a player they like and see the way they play.

an example would be like the app says

"John Johnson-seat 1" looseness-5/10, agressiveness 8/10

there is a 0% chance i can go to europe to play in a tourney but if this is on tv with live whole cards, a good commentator who knows about poker (olivier busquet is perfect if he doesnt play/busts) and someone well known at the table i would watch it for sure and i think many of my friends who only play casually would as well.

as a side note i know people dont think anyone would watch poker live and idk for sure, but i do know that when the mavericks (our basketball team) makes the playoffs they sell out their arena even when playing on the road and people pay to go watch the game on the jumbo tron in the arena. if people will pay for that, they will pay for anything.

sorry this is so long, its mostly for carfax

there is a 'buy into d3 option' (imo 6K, but just check this thread)

anyway:

@carfax

- is the €600 online sat (in the stadium) 1R1A or w/ unlimited rebuys?
- is the '€20 million guaranteed' for the Main event or the "whole event" (including side events)?

i've still no clue since there are so many different information out. prosper said in an interview that the ME is w/ unlimited rebuys (which makes sense) and the €20m are definitely guaranteed (but) "for the whole event" (which sounds for me quite misleading)

Hi Guys,

I'm always around one way or another....Was checking in on this thread regularly in early August but it wasn't getting any new comments.

I've new real news I'm afraid, at this stage....Prosper had told me that a press conference was happening on the last day of the Partouche event (Sept 4th) but that hasn't happened (I'm assuming the guys are still cementing plans and contracts etc).
The purpose of the press conference was to clear up any of the unanswered questions, which I realise is absolutely necessary to do before we start getting attention of serious poker players.

I will certainly keep everyone updated as soon as possible and if you're ever looking for a response to any questions please don't hesitate to email stephen[at]ispt.com (just email the question or ask me to drop in on the thread if I haven't done so)....the response may well be the same as today (that I don't have any news) but I'll be around one way or another.

Cheers,
Stephen.

Must read: http://www.igamingfrance.com/poker-i...nference/27437

There is exactly 0% chance this will be guaranteed at €20m. Sorry carfax, you're being taken for a total ride as is evident to everyone including yourself.
