Best of 3 (and as well as re-entries to the start of day 2 or very long re entry periods) these changes would and are being detrimental to big tourneys imo.
Maybe its an American / Euro thing for sports in general, Stanley Cup/NBA finals have a few games to decide semi finals and finals etc whereas the main Euro game -football ( soccer), the later stages have extra time / Penalties , the early stages there are giant killings in the English FA Cup happen and they're great, non league teams beating Premier League teams.
Everyone likes to hear the story of the guy who satty into the $10k / $5k / $3.5 tourneys and gets a huge score , these changes to make best 3 would kill it for these guys.
This would not change at all. Skills in heads up poker are fairly overrated.
If we arrange a Heads Up between the world best poker player (or even a computer created by a university, like deep blue in chess) and play against a monkey that is taught to make all-in all time, the best player could not win more than 60-65% of the time
Farha against Moneymaker, at that time, if they would have same stack to start heads up, attending that difference on now, nobody was real expert in heads up, I doubt Farha would win over 55% of the times to Moneymaker
That is reality. Even with this luck would be very important
Then , if a normal HU would not be more than 55-45, even being a best-of-three would be less than 60-40 (last SuperBowl o last WC final gave less chances to the underdog)
An this, if we make in this first way, where the 3 heads up would last as the original.
If we make the 3 Heads Up shorter, the other possibility, luck would not be reduce at all
PS: If there is any casino or online poker that is interested, can contact me by here, in private message and I explain him everything to do this in a tournament
