I agree about London being a better venue. It's very accessible for all countries pretty much and you are not restricted to 4-5 hotels. Also central London will attract many more recreationals I would imagine.

If I hadn't seen the streams in the PokerGo que I'd have no idea this event was going on. Looks like PokerGo/WSOP recognizes the lack of attention, because they are actually streaming all of the final tables on YouTube.

You might want to reread my post, which was simply attempting to make a summation of OP's main points to demonstrate someone's post about OP being an arrogant American was unfounded. Your questions should be directed at the OP.

Nice number

But is that a BS number

I mean in the past did they allow reentries?

And if not, how many entries were there this year (unique) not including rebuys

Maybe they don’t include people’s second bullet

But I would think 2011s wsope ME (where I think it was only one entry... and had loads of big names - not just US ones like PH) was the highest number of entries with 593

In that latter sense of foreign policy, no, the United States is not an example of "exceptionalism"; but within its borders, as a place to live, I would stack it favorably against most other somewhat multi-racial and multi-ethnic countries.

(The lack of universal health care is the glaring comparative deficiency in my limited, privileged, white, educated male experience. For example, racism is real, and was especially noticeable to me where I grew up in Southside Chicago, but is not unique to the US.)

this.

We were able to send out millions and millions of vaccines for free. You can't tell me we "cant afford" to have universal health care. Only reason would be to procure more profits for the rich white men running big pharma.

First those vaccines were not free. But still the $’s the govt paid for all of those doses of vax would not make a blip on what is paid for health care.

Sure we could afford universal health care but it would take large tax increases to do so. And if you advocate single payer (which logically ALL universal systems devolve to) there would be long term negative impacts on health care.

If you remove profit motivation and opportunity from something, your best and brightest will not enter there and those who do go there are not incentivized to perform above minimal standards.

Exactly this. Government involvement in any enterprise has only one result - inefficiency, waste and failure. A profit driven company will find the most efficient method.

I don’t think we need to discuss health care in here. Aren’t there threads in politics about stuff like that?

(As someone who has lived in a country with free health care for a long time and in a country (the US) without one for a long time, I think that conversation is stupid anyway)

King's is the only casino I have ever played at because it is fairly close to where I live. What is particularly bad about it compared to other, "big name" casinos in France or England?

I always thought it was pretty decent, especially for poker players, with all the cash games going on and the daily tournaments... Sure, the location and surroundings feel super cheap and dodgy, but the casino itself seemed nice enough to me?

The government runs Social Security and Medicare pretty decently, actually.

As for the WSOP-E, I admit to having a very low level of interest that was made even lower when, in checking Pokernews for who was making a splash there, I recognized virtually none of the big stacks and bracelet winners.
