You may be correct. Poker is very hard to quit. Does anyone have any advice on what to replace it with? I am leaning towards exercising, joining a gym or soccer or basketball league, etc.

Cocaine. It, too, will take your money, fill your time, surround you with sketchy people, and give you brief soaring highs and long crashing lows.

Similar skillz are required for Backgammon and Chess. These games can be played online for free and no risk of busto.

good you are quitting instead of joining a site as a stabler and ruining the game

I'm leaving because I'm not very happy and also because I'm broke financially. I don't think I approached bankroll management and skill development the right way. The right way to do it is what you see with Doug Polk and Ryan Fee, in a team, reviewing hands and running sims, etc. I did review hands for awhile from HM2 but did it on my own. I did not get staked, played 100% of myself this is not smart. Should divvy up action amongst a crew of solid players and review hands/strategy together. Either way, I learned the hard way how to NOT make a living playing poker.

All in all, besides the money, I feel poker is somewhat of a toxic game in general. Even if you are crushing/winning that means someone or some people out there are losing. Zero sum game. I'd rather do something with my life where everyone benefits (symbiotic). I'm just sick of the emotional swings and financial swings. I would rather invest my time/energy into skills like learning Microsoft Excel on an advanced level where that can always make me money from a job with no downside and can put on a resume. Cannot put poker on a resume. In fact, is more frowned upon because most see it as a degenerate thing and you aren't going to convince employers otherwise mainly.

I think those are all good things to do. Excersice, etc. I've started working on skills that can make me money that are very analytical similar to poker. Trying to learn Microsoft Excel on an advanced level. Learning how to do Amazon Affiliate marketing as well. If I was more tech savvy maybe you could learn coding or IT work.

I think that once you started poker, you cannot quit it unless you´re the type of person that just likes giving up in any other things as well.

what a POS you are...clearly the worst scum on earth, and this is based on all your history...

OP, you are 100% right in everything you said, just don't have too high expectations in life without poker, you may be disapointed, or maybe not, but yeah its pointless and a waste of life unless you are killing it, which you are not and 99,99$ of players aren't. good luck and stay strong.

I see what you're saying, but I know for my situation quitting is the best thing. There's some things in life that you should quit and it will make you a better person, not a quitter. For me, poker is one of those things.
