holy jesus just stop the fake discussion already. clearly those who still doubt the authenticity of the story will probably never believe it. i thought it was a pretty sweet and inspirational read regardless and if true, which it evidently seems to be, i wish jose nothing but the best of luck and i take my hat off to him.

freaking nvgtards spending hours and hours discussing and trying to prove its fakeness

2+2=? ---> isn't more reasonable to guess that the trouble with some of those accounts might be that they were opened under a different name when he was still underage ???

Anyway amazing story and good luck to my fellow Iberian.

Also, who needs a detective, just post your queries on 2p2 and someone will know someone who could ask someone what if and blah blah blah.

Yea, wanted to spark some discussion in the thread about him and his game/story/future, instead of every reply being about him being fake or not.
03-04-2011 , 03:08 PM
not fake. confirmed. even more then that. gl jose, awesome talking to you.
03-04-2011 , 03:56 PM

I got every poker book I could find at the local bookstore (I couldn’t afford to buy any and Poker was still a secret, so I’d sneak the books into the bathroom to read them) and spent 2 months reading and analyzing them – Mathematics of poker, Sklanky's theory of poker, Harrington on Hold'em, Gus Hansen's Every Hand Revealed, and more.

I find it hard to believe that u can get those kind of books at a local portuguese bookstore..come on!

Yeah, those books were pretty hard to find anywhere in Europe a few years ago. I had to order most of them from Amazon back in the days, so this is a HUGE flaw in the story IMO.

I would take a bet, but not if the kid is real, but if the whole biography thing applies to him. Maybe the kid is real, and maybe he won 1.6 mil, no one has evidence to disprove that. But, I am pretty sure that there are a lot of made up things in this whole biography story, so I would bet you any amount of money that Jose Macedo didn't get cheated of $250K, that he doesn't have a board with 4 pictures, that he didn't buy all the poker books in a local Portuguese bookstore etc. His biography is basically a compilation of a lot of real poker palyers' biographies, that's all there is too it. If you want to take the bet on this, let's do it!

Well I will go thing by thing that you listed.

1. He is real, has won 1.6 mil or more and lives in Portugal
2. He did get cheated out of 250k and thats a fact
3. Why would he make that up about buying them in a portugese bookstore. Maybe he got them online but either way thats pretty irrelevant
4. The picture of the 4 pictures on his board were already posted in the thread.

Still wanna bet that? 95% or so of this is true if not all of it.

i guess i believe the story, never heard, but makes sense.

- every kid here speaks amazing english (even while talking sometimes say a phrase in Portuguese, another in english wich is kinda weird, but happens really really often)
- lots or most of them go to St Juliard School
- He lives in Quinta da Marinha (sick sick place)
- Ive heard of the guy who has the bookstore, i think he orders the books for some people around here. At least i know one guy who bought/was gonna buy Winning tournament poker from rizen, pearjammer and apestyles, and was waiting for it to arrive.
03-04-2011 , 04:48 PM
btw he already lives in the best/richest place in portugal
can degen all the money or send it to me
pm me for +info
03-04-2011 , 04:55 PM
seems a sick story if true, if not..... still an interesting 'story' haha
03-04-2011 , 05:00 PM
confirmed not very fake
03-04-2011 , 05:29 PM
Lol @ that blog or his twitter being any kind of evidence that he is real. C'mon seriously.

Also, the picture of a Jose Macedo playing for Sporting was from 18 years ago.

lol at you not thinking he is real. take my bet and choose the amount you want to bet. i will iron out all the details on how to make it happened. maybe a trip to go see him?
03-04-2011 , 06:04 PM
the kid can be real and be a beast, but his story in 1st page is full of details that make it a fail.

there are/where not poker books in bookstores in Portugal.

small country, there isn`t a market for them.

most europeans don`t dream off on dollar bills and houses in hawai and so on, so on, so on...

Most of them don't have to. Only one does.

Still, thanks for lumping all 750 million Europeans together like that.
