I finished highschool in Portugal with 20 out of 20 in highschool average in English. I was the best student in the entire school and i didn't even know some of thoses words.

THIS IS FAKE AS HELL.

Umm the MarcoAntonio post/account is whats commonly referred to as satire.
People on the internet, and especially Americans (i dont know if you are, but i make the safe assumption) generally seem to have a part of their brain missing that lets them identify sarcasm, satire, irony.

So let me break it down for you my dim witted brother:

- People assume the OP is fake due to the inconsistently high level of English grammar and expression.

- Other people then state that due to the existence of international schools, the level of English in non English speaking countries is amazing.

- The initial nay sayers are now more or less willing to abide by that argument.

- The brilliant MarcoAntoni gimmick account then makes an intriguing post claiming to be the 14 year old brother of the said Portuguese prodigy. The gimmick uses language that not only exceeds the capacity of any "international english school graduate" but also that of any 14 year old period.

Hence the comedy gold.

Keep on trucking brother.

Oh, how I do miss him so

Enough from me. I hope José returns soon to furnish the folk here with further information on his Herculean journey, a story which truly promises to be one for the ages.

it's funny how all the portuguese people itt claiming his english is pretty standard, have much worse english than Jose does, and are believably portuguese.. (I realize Dog Is Head apparantly proofread or whatever, I'm just saying with regard to their comments..)

Hey Marco, don't feel that you need to restrict your presence to this thread alone. I feel that you should spread your wisdom throughout NVG!

How do people explain the legitimate Facebook account? Clearly, random 2p2ers are going to message this guy now. Has Haseeb paid him to respond correctly?
03-03-2011 , 10:35 AM
i checked the facebook page and there is a comment mentioning this on his wall

Btw, I am really amazed by the quality of the portuguese players, specially in a such small country with not that much appeal for poker(sueca ftw).
I can remember of at least 7 portuguese guys who play really right, plus another guys who crush sngs(like acoimbra) in a country with 10m people. Wow
i bet u´r portuguese... and u think a 18 year old guy can play soccer, rugby, complete high school, studying poker heavly, and making millions of dollars, buy a house , and nobody knows about him...

Sigh @ NVG. Here you have somebody who so many people have been wondering about for so long, and who might, were the thread to move in the proper direction, come back to answer some of the questions being put to him, and maybe we could find out a little more about him, and maybe he'd become a really valuable asset to 2+2 and to a lot of players hoping to improve their games. Or..... maybe we could carry on debating the quality and the authenticity of the English and quoting that MarcoAntonio post 15 times and pretty much guarantee that OP never returns to the thread again.

I don't think José will be that embarrassed about his little brother's posts tbh.
03-03-2011 , 11:17 AM
throughout my whole school life ive always looked at your results with a kind of jealousy fueled scorn. i always thought to myself "if i studied i bet i could get that too!". then i realized a) even if i studied, i probably couldnt and b) no one ****ing cares about the ifs, the fact that you studied and i dont is what differentiates us, and what makes you so admirable and successful and who you are. you dont need to talk because you walk the walk.

Actually I didn't confirm anything.. I suggested it might be Haseeb until I read he'd prop bet any amount that Jose is actually real. I figured if he's willing to do that, then my presumption was premature.

I'm still on the fence though, given some of the posts in the original thread and this one.
03-03-2011 , 11:18 AM
not bad but can you beat 1/2 nl on stars?
03-03-2011 , 11:28 AM
Sick Story Girah. Been looking forward to this coming out as soon as I found out you were coming out with it. OPs story is 100% real and Id also be willing to take bets on that for up to as much as you would like.
03-03-2011 , 11:29 AM
why is everyone that goes to this school seem like some sort of fanboy-loving cult? Its kind of creepy.

Like, that crazy Laura chick just freaked out on people for no reason. omg, people don't believe in some ridiculous story that could be true but might not be....so she just starts dropping **** you's everywhere lmao

Under what epistemological premise dare you suggest that his heretofore struggles and successes be some cruel and elaborate hoax for the collective amusement of a few high stakes regulars? Ye gods, if I weren't but fourteen years of age and slight in build, I assure you I would inflict rapid and accurate blows upon your cheeks with my fists.

I shan't continue further; my anger has brought sweat upon my brow and I cannot be seen like this for my show and tell performance at school this morning. Suffice it to say that I pity the cynical lens through which you interpret this wonderful, but flawed world of ours. You may never share the joys that José, father and I experience when one of your own blood reaps the rewards of persistence and determination in chasing a noble dream.

Farewell,

Marco.
My favorite post of all time. Literally lol'd for 5 min straight at this.
