depends how you define expert. some people itt seem to think that in order to call yourself an expert you must be some nosebleed stakes god which is ******ed. If you beat small stakes poker on pokerstars you're an expert. People call themselves 'experts' on other fields with much less proven results than that.
I'd say about 500 hours of study and 2000 hours of play

because the concept of draw in sc2 barely exist and it's dishonest to compare them. Youre much more likely to beat a sc2 pro as an amateur than a chess gm. It takes much more time and it's much harder to be great a chess than being great at starcraft lol.
