How far back has FTP set us? How far back has FTP set us?

How much have they set US players back in moving forward with the legalization of online poker in the US? Is this going to be our oppositions rally cry? Can we turn this into how all poker needs is regulation and over site?

I'd guess about a week.

a little over 3 days I'd guess.

I would think forward in all honesty. Seems like there is a need for regulation more then ever.

In terms of the poker economy, uncharted territory. 350mill sucked outta players pockets is not a good thing. at all.

I dunno, but you better not mention anything about Player Owner 1 in this thread or it will get locked

I think you ppl should take the question more seriously.

Way back is my answer.

btw: You know something's a disaster when you see so many poster with years ago registration dates and very low post counts, like the OP, coming out of the woodwork.

This only gives big casinos a stronger voice asking to be regulated. The issue is more and more in the face of lawmakers. FairPlayusa and ceasers will be making a concerted effort in light of this.

A long, long way imo. 2+2ers often fail to understand the general public's viewpoint, which is where our casual players and fish come from. This has been in every major news outlet across the US, including as the lead story in many huge outlets both on TV and online. In all of these releases, poker is made to look more rogue, with poker players made to look so stupid as to allow for scumbag degenerates to run away with hundreds of millions of their collective money. The comments online in every article that I've read have been brutal towards poker players and the greater community, and probably makes the crazies who run this country feel even stronger that they need to step in and further protect the "weak, degenerate, immoral losers" who comprise the online poker constituency.

Also, anyone who was laughed at when they said that poker sites were scams or rigged are now validated (as two of the largest three have been found to be just that), and those who always felt that online poker sites were scams or rigged have only had their viewpoints strengthened as they were, in fact, correct.

It's good that all the bad stuff comes out at one last time. I guess this is IT for FT, and it's time to move on to a new chapter for online poker in America. So I guess poker is going to get regulated sooner than most ppl might think?

Sadly, I doubt it.

A massive drug bust and uncovering of a money laundering scheme isn't going to translate into the need for regulation and legalization of drugs in the mind of the average person.

The whole FTP debacle has set legal online poker in the USA back quite a bit, imo.

This was about how I felt when I asked this question. I feel like this will drag down the rep of all poker players because the average outsider to our community either isnt smart enough to understand what has happened or wont care enough to read the full story. Also it wont help that the media will want to make flashy headlines more than tell a fair account of what has happened.

How do people feel about Chris and Howard at this point, I feel like they come off looking like greedy scum. IMO they should never be allowed to sit in on a live poker game as long as the players of FTP have not been paid in full.
