How does this guy have any money in his bankroll? He is horrible at both cash and tourneys. I'm guessing he won like some world poker tour thing?

He's from a large emerging country which has experienced a prolonged period of strong economic growth, and which is currently underrepresented in the poker show-business. This means he's a highly marketable 'ambassador' for PokerStars.
Meaning that your granny would have a good shot at a sponsorship deal if she was Brazilian.

Does Pokerstars fund him though? I find it pretty unlikely he is a winning player. When I booked about 500 hands him at 5/10nl he was playing 33/13. Any disussion I've seen about him in MSNL is about how bad he is.

I heard he came from a poor family and worked his roll up from pennies into hundreds of thousands. But I don't know much about how he plays or how much pokerstars pays him. Were you the person at our 100 rebuy asking him the same question from OP?

Yep. My old account on 2+2 got banned. I guess I'm a little bitter cause he has gotten lucky versus me making some strange plays.

So you're not a professional? Where did you get your roll?
I play semi professionally. Mostly built my roll from grinding going back to $10 sit and gos. It's hard to believe he built up his roll naturally (i.e. no huge tournament win).

I know akkari.. surprised he has an agressive image because I've always thought of him as an ultra-conservative player (as most Brazilian MTT players are).

He has a lot of patience for MTT play. Once I saw him in Uruguay playing and he cashed in a nice live MTT win of over 50k i think. oh and when you read that some mtt player has won 600k. you gotta ask that question "but how much did he lose?" (spend on buyins)

that said, he's definately one of the top 5 brazilian players.

I am really curious about how much pokerstars gives to these "team PS" players because I'll def. start giving more time to MTTs if I get a reasonably big bonus for this

In a recent MSNL thread a forum user posed the question (in reference to AAkkari) "Is this guy an aggressive player?"

PerDoom submitted the following rather apt response:

"If you can aggressively call, he would be one of the most aggressive players at 5/10. Otherwise, nope not aggressive. At all. "

Newsflash: probably more than half of Team PokerStars would be losing players online.

They're not picked because they're good online players, they're picked mostly because they're famous and can be representatives for places around the world. Most have also had a lot of live play success.

If they picked the best online players, nobody would have ever heard of them and it wouldn't make Stars any money.
