That's especially cool for the friends and family still in town after the Main. "Sorry I didn't win that tournament, but if you stick around for the weekend I'll just win another one."

What's cool is that after playing for god knows how many days and busting in a slightly disappointing position (relative to the payjumps) he registers another donkament and keeps on grinding.

Feel good story with Joe Cada , at least for me.

I just flew to vegas for the $1500 closer and the night before, I sat down to play in a $25 blackjack table to pass time and have fun with my wife. Shorty after, Joe Cade sat down in the next table with some friends right after he busted the main event.
They were having fun and Joe was running so pure, hitting all his doubles and splits and he ran $1500 into 30k.
I asked for a picture and I was screaming with the group every time he wins a 2k double downs. Anyway he was such a friendly and classy guy , so I asked if he wants to do a good karma swap in the closer. He said he was not sure if he was playing it but if he is, then sure and he said 2% only if one of us makes the final table. We shoke hands and that was it.
I busted shortly after dinner and saw he bagged a decent stack and was like, I hope he final tables this thing.
I got up the next afternoon to see pokernews chip count and it said he was busted !?!?!?😩
And Righ around 10 pm or so, I was browsing pokernews again and to my delight and shock, he was the chip leader with 10 to go 😳😃.
I rushed to the Amazon room and railed him to victory. I even got in the winner picture with him.
He took my number and said he will wire me the money or pay me next day and true to his word he just did. What a classy and true champ Joe Cada is.

Story for the ages for me to say the least.

^ good story

Did Cada just win 2 bracelets and a 5th place in the main, but only has half the points of the current leader in the POY race ?!

I don't know what's sicker: To win The Closer right after his bust, or that he was motivated enough to sit down the next morning.

He must have done a lot of things right. Congratz Joe

I think he played a pretty light schedule. Yu has like 14 cashes with a 1st/2nd/3rd/4th and the 1st/2nd are in 50k and 25k buyins...Deeb has 2 bracelets and 15+ cashes. Hard to compete with that.

that isn't a knock on him

you realize there can be players just as good as his without anything resembling his success purely bc of variance right? this isn't that complicated.
+1 it's not complicated at all but people are bad at understanding variance. I saw people on twitter saying Cada would be the GOAT tourney player if he won a 2nd main event . He's clearly a great player and he's clearly ran absurdly good in the main. The theoretical GOAT player could play 10 main events and have 0 cashes.

I have no reason to make the story up. I asked Joe right after he paid me if it’s ok to post the story and he was fine with it. Believe me , I don’t have a history of photo bombing bracelet pictures. He is 100% down to earth great guy. BTW, I gave him a 2% free roll to the st Charles $1650 HPT main event next month as I want some of his run good

I didn't think you were making it up.

It's just awesome he did it and snap paid you.
In life i hate being owed money or owing money. the rare time i do i snap pay whoever i owe next time i see them without them asking (drives me nuts that other people don't do the same)
But he did that without knowing you which is amazing.

Yeah poker is dying for sure.
Spoken like a total noob who wasn't around for the boom years.

Poker is objectively dying per every metric that matters. That you're too dumb and imperceptive to see it doesn't change anything.
