As much as I appreciate Barny Frank and what he is saying, his voice tilts the hell out of me.

Sports betting amendment passes on voice vote.

3rd amendment, by Kilroy of Ohio:

Gives Secretary of Treasury power to prohibit unsolicited emails and advertisements targeted to problem gamblers, minors.

Passes by voice vote.

Bachus/Bachmann amendment:

Prohibits offshore sites that have done business in the US, along with people who were employees of certain companies from being a licensee.

Bachus is a jerk pointing out that they all voted for UIGEA. They voted for a friggin port bill.

i hate the language barney frank pointed out where anyone who was ever employed by a banned entity can never work for a licensed entity. i want someone who knows poker site security working at the new sites. I want someone who knows poker software working on these new sites.

Re: House Financial Services Committee Markup on HR 2267 (markup on HR 2267 now!)

UIGEA by itself passed by a wide margin in the House in 2006.

Frank's issue is with employees in casinos that had broken a law could also be banned for life from having a license.

Oh wow, this is also extending to companies like Harrahs and MGM, preventing them from opening an online site. Am I hearing that correctly?

Re: House Financial Services Committee Markup on HR 2267 (markup on HR 2267 now!)

That's what it sounds like.

Bachus amendment is withdrawn, could be resubmitted.

Baca of California amendment:

Allows Indian tribes to participate in Internet gambling.

Not germane, Johnson Act doesn't apply.

2nd Baca amendment:

Allow states/tribes to opt-in to Internet gambling.

As well as sites like party poker -- should it ever be shown that any player from the US ever played on PP after the UIGEA (those who got around it despite the fact PP did everything possible to stop us players)

Was disappointed that Frank didn't fight Bacchus on the specific issue of poker being included in his amendment. Guess it doesn't matter as he got him to withdraw.

Apparently this legislation would auto put gambling sites and software onto every computer and iPod in America.

Obviously. Party poker would be installed right alongside internet explorer on every new computer using windows...
