Re: House Financial Services Committee Markup on HR 2267 (passes 41-22)

The bill will be presented to the entire house, amendments or changes made, and if approved sent to the Senate where the same process will occur. If they come to agreement on the differences, the bill will be sent to the President for approval or rejection.

Re: House Financial Services Committee Markup on HR 2267 (passes 41-22)

The bill gets reported from the Committee to the House floor. The next bill regarding Internet gambling is HR 2268, currently in the House Ways and Means Committee. It's unknown if there will be another hearing on that bill or if/when markup will take place.

Another possibility is for a poker only bill to come out of the Senate.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid denied such a bill was being considered when the article came out in April.

Read the thread...... jesus christ.

It passed the committee and will now go the full house for a vote. If it passes there it then goes to the senate. If it passes the senate the President will sign it into law.

I live in Canada and can follow what's going on..... what's your excuse?

So going all the way up to the President and assuming it passes, how long will it take for this bill to become a law?

Re: House Financial Services Committee Markup on HR 2267 (passes 41-22)

An "effective date" is usually added at the final step.

A bill is "enacted" on the same day it is signed by the President. The "effective date," however is written into the text of the bill. Some bill are effective immediately and some Congress picks a later date - could be 2 months or a year or more.

I fully expect the jackass Senator Kyl putting a hold on the bill and it dies in the senate.
