I had the complete opposite feeling about visiting Vegas alone. I went for the first time ever aline for 10 days during the last wsop. I had been to Vegas about 5x before that. This time I was pretty miserable and depressed. I am not a fan of Vegas trips alone.

No, that line was intentionally misleading. On their busiest hour they can make $52.50/hr (if they can deal mix) but they don't average >$50/hr because that doesn't count breaks or overstaffing.

As someone who generally likes travelling alone, I find Vegas to be a pretty depressing place alone. If I somehow found myself with the opportunity to take two weeks off work (and chose to leave my family for two weeks), Vegas is probably the last place I would choose to go.

I'm shocked how cheap it is to stay at the literal heart of the WSOP.

On vegas.com I got airfare, and 11 nights for $1150.
Seems too good to be true.

Every man on this site, with a real job and responsibilities over the age of 35 owes it to themselves to go to Vegas alone at least once.
It's a feeling of freedom you'll never understand until you do it.
Zero responsibilities for 2 weeks and you'll wonder why you ever went with anyone else before.
Don't get a room with a balcony, you might jump after three days staying there.

(I do endorse the idea of going to Las Vegas, and it certainly can be a good time if you travel alone and are reasonably extroverted. In my misspent college years, I used to get a junket flight from Chicago for cash (no gambling requirement), go for three days or so and play poker or do whatever, as much as I liked. )

Back in 2008 I qualified for main event through full tilt and was there for two weeks and it was glorious

But wasn’t really alone per se, met a stripper so my daily routine was wake up at noon, hit the Sapphire pool and drink with her, relax in my hotel room with her, then she would go to work and I’d play poker.

I’d highly recommend to anyone spending two weeks doing that.

Renting a nice house for a group of players for a month is much more discreet and flexible than staying at a hotel casino. Be aware of potential scams, use someone local to handle your business before you get there.

Just depends what you want.

It’s quite nice to have home field advantage and then have luxury of kicking back by yourself in your room or whatever.

There’s also more stuff you have to worry about when renting a place. Unknown people possibly trespassing through your chit when you are out and things like that.

I’m just envisioning the Tri Lambs house in Revenge of Nerds lol

Congrats!

Unfortunately this didn't work for me. Booked 5 nights and round trip airfare on my own for $722. Vegas.com was $1140....

Hi guys! I’m flying out to the WSOP on June 23 from England. I want to bring in a variety of dry snacks such as roasted peanuts, dried fruits, cereal bars etc to keep energy levels up, and i much prefer U.K. brands. if I declare all these will they be allowed in? I know sometimes border control are funny about certain foods. Thanks

LOL The American brands of those snacks are superior and the varieties in groceries like Smiths, Vons, Walmart, Target, Trader Joe's, Sprouts, Whole Foods and others are near infinite. There is also a store here in Las Vegas called International Market that carries foreign brands including British stuff.

I don’t want to go food shopping anywhere other than a few hundred feet either side of Bally’s for the whole trip and I also don’t want foods riddled with chemicals, which is why I was wondering if anyone knew if the foodstuffs listed would be allowed in. I went to Walgreen’s last time and got some almonds, cranberries, peanuts etc where the pricing, chemical use and salting was all over the place and I want to bring what I’m used to in any case.

how about shipping the foods to the bell desk of the hotel ahead of time, then you don't have to declare it at customs.

Last person I know that tried to smuggle a bag of peanuts past customs is still deep in the clink, be very afraid!

Or go to the online stores of Whole Foods, Sprouts, and Trader Joe's then get the orders delivered to the property. Whole Foods is very into organic and direct from the farm stuff.

Take a shot. You're a gambler, aren't you ? What do you stand to lose, some of those wonderful UK dried foodstuffs ?

Don't lie if asked, but no one will ask 99.5%.

Dried fruits are a problem (raisins and dates excepted), but nuts and granola bars are allowed.
