A massive first prize is most likely to catch the attention of mainstream media outlets outside the poker bubble.
I think this is exactly right.

The satellites had been slowly dying from what I could tell. Not sure about stts.

Giving you tbc makes a lot of sense.

Anyone know where the find the wsop daily schedule? Seems like last year, there was a couple of paragraphs outlining each day's tourney time and buy-in amounts. Thanks.

Is $45/night+taxes at the Rio really that great a deal for an “employee rate” lol. (Point being Rio is el dumpo).

Dealers have to pay to stay there while working? That's tough.

I know many folks who travel for living with no per diem or room/board. They like it as their wages are little greater and they can live cheap. I imagine traveling dealers who do this for awhile can easily beat $45/day for room and board. But if just starting out $20 for food and $25 for room isn’t bad.

Can’t really compare to what a patron pays as they also pay via a heir gaming. If not they lose that rate a pay more than $45. If they aren’t already

They don't get food, and they can certainly do better than $45 a night plus tax living somewhere else. Split a house or something with poker players

Would be a little difference if rooms at Horsehoe or Paris so no commute.

It is in that tweet. They get free unlimited EDR access at Rio, also free wifi.

Oh, I thought that was unlimited Endpoint Detection and Response lol

What does it stand for? They should make it more clear whatever it means

EDR is Employee Dining Room, most all casinos have them for their employees with free food while working. So I imagine they get access at Bally's/Paris during their shift also.

I imagine the EDR dinner menu at the Rio would look like this:

macaroni and cheese (Kraft)

macaroni salad

chicken soup with macaroni bits

pinto beans

dried fried chicken

mashed potatoes (from a box) and watery gravy

meatballs with ketchup

well done roast beef (also with ketchup but mixed with worstershire)

lemon jello

orange jello

pineapple jello

banana jello

chocolate jello

vanilla jello

mint jello

lime jello

macaroni jello

Do they really make over $50/hour dealing at the WSOP? Seems like at that rate they could enjoy much better food and lodging than the Rio.

Let’s not forget the hot dogs, corn dogs, and dinosaur chicken nuggets lol

Anyone here deal at Rio WSOP before? How is the EDR in actuality?

free Unlimited access to EDR It is on the flier.

And I already said those doing this for awhile can do better. But if we assume free unlimited access to EDR is worth $20 per day then the room rent including all utilities would be $750 per month. Prolly not horrible for someone starting out wo contacts. Once they make contacts they could switch to a better deal (assuming RIO did not require a ‘lease agreement’.

Very doubtful these dealers could get 10 or 20 or 30+ days at Paris or Horsehoe for anything close to $45 plus UNLIMITED EDR access (I assume wsop dealers have some access when dealing but not on days off nor 12 hrs after their shift ended).

The reason RIO can offer this deal is because they have plenty of excess room because most players are not looking to stay there when they can stay on the strip. I doubt Paris or Horseshoe nearly this excess of of rooms to monetize.

Terrence Chan from Canada has already booked his airbnb for the WSOP. Negreanu is already laying out his schedule and how he is going to manage his time for the WSOP.

This things gonna be really big this year. Unfortunately some sad news about Rocky. But Apollo is fine.

I'm staying at horseshoe for 12 days this summer in June
I'm shocked how cheap it is to stay at the literal heart of the WSOP.

On vegas.com I got airfare, and 11 nights for $1150.
Seems too good to be true.

Every man on this site, with a real job and responsibilities over the age of 35 owes it to themselves to go to Vegas alone at least once.
It's a feeling of freedom you'll never understand until you do it.
Zero responsibilities for 2 weeks and you'll wonder why you ever went with anyone else before.
