I just started watching season 8 but it's amazing how many people don't get it about Solomon and don't get what poker really is. It's a soft hustle at the end of the day. Being the "best" player doesn't mean dick if nobody will play you. Poker isn't only 100 blind 2 blind NL either where a bunch of robot nerds see who can work the best/hardest with solvers.So yes Solomon would be a dog in online 100 blind NL or even a tough 5/10 nl capped live game. But he splashes around with garbage just enough to get action when he has it, and to have more chances to stack deep stacked fish that gto wizards won't.Negative ev plays in a vacuum can become +ev long term. And he ends up playing with people way worse than him and players who are fundamentally better than him but are playing scared money. It's a nice combination for him. And I love how fast he plays- it's awesome for TV as well as for the games he's in.

I agree it was a great episode. Dwan dominating, Hellmuth mouthing off and nitting up, JKoon making questionable plays, and "CW" Daniels willing to mix it up for hundreds of thousands. Gabe and AJ throwing in the yucks, and Chamath sharing JRB's quest to reopen the strip clubs. And next week's lineup is killer.

I was watching PAD a bit with Hellmuth and he's just a meme now. A bunch of mega-fish just dunking on him (and rightfully so) the whole time for being such a massive nit. He plays like a microstakes grinder taking a shot at the nosebleeds.

PH, the self-proclaimed greated poker player ever, is clearly playing with ultra scared money, for whatever reason.

But to be fair, when he did make folds that others would not, they were often correct. Folded AT when up against AK and facing a pretty big reraise.
