I'm really perplexed as to why anyone would think Nick Schulman, Lex Veldhuis, or Norman Chad would be a good fit for commentating High Stakes Poker. I can't see any of them creating the type of magic Gabe and AJ had.

Almost surely not sarcasm. Do you think all the people that think HSP was the best poker TV series think it achieved that despite garbage announcing?

The key to televised poker is the commentator keeping his mouth shut and having players mics turned up. I thought Nananoko did an amazing job in that JRB/Baldwin/Dwan/Robl cash game where he pretty much did nothing for 8 episodes. The people above me asking for Schulman is already making me throw up in my mouth. If I want to listen to some boring Ahole talk about ranges and betting patterns I would subscribe to one of the million poker training sites.

This. I like deep diving into breaking different range compositions, but HSP should be an entertaining poker show with maximum of 1 or 2 silent nerds. Should be like a home game with high stakes.

I thought Gabe made it feel like a small community of players with his descriptions and his knowledge of history, even if it wasn't deep or even necessarily accurate, it was entertaining and I'd love it if he wants to return with AJ. My favorite tv poker ever was seasons 1-5 of hsp.

That's funny. I think it should be mostly silent nerds, with a maximum or 1 or 2 entertaining characters to spice things up for a general audience. Maybe like Matusow or Dnegs. I guess you could replace one of the silent nerds with Doyle if he's still around, as he's pretty quiet most of the time.

I'm assuming Cary Katz is the one behind all this? They literally deleted all the episodes we've been watching on YT forever to lock them behind the PokerGO paywall.

I think most people would disagree. Gabe and AJ were a big part of what made High Stakes Poker successful.

Schulman is a good announcer. I don't think his announcing style is perfect, but admittedly he's good. He is also a high stakes player which is a plus for this show. Still, I think his greatest strength is hand analysis and I really don't think that should be a big focus of High Stakes Poker.

High Stakes Poker is more about the gamble, the machismo, and the balls it takes to put it all on the line. It's also about the camaraderie of the players. To me it's more of an old school feel of what poker should be. This as opposed to the Super High Roller Bowls which are a bunch of robots systematically taking money away from rich people and each other while saying as few words as possible.

I certainly agree that PokerGo should use free content to draw in viewers (and help grow the game). Still, I don't get what the big deal is with the High Stakes Poker episodes being removed from YouTube. Were those episodes monetized? Were they posted under a PokerGo account? If not, then of course they should be removed.

THAT call vs Doyle Brunson with Bottom pair no kicker has to be among my favourite HSP moments ever. I´m guessing he had like 10 % of himself, which makes the hand even funnier.

High Stakes Poker was previously owned by Game Show Network. GSN had uploaded the full episodes, which were monetized. There were also thousands of clips all over YouTube, going back more than 12 years, which GSN could easily monetize (even if not on their own channel).

PokerGo is of course well within their rights to erase all this stuff off YouTube to try and sell subscriptions to their streaming service. It just sucks because these videos had hundreds of millions of views and continued to be a gateway for new people to discover poker.

Gabe and AJ were legendary and the greatest duo of all time. I very much doubt it can be worked out to get both of them back, and am not sure replication is possible. Lex was great in the Triton series I don't understand the hate hes getting.

As long as Perkins is on there idgaf, guy is awesome for the game and a good guy
