Gabe & AJ have such wonderful chemistry & somehow the same jokes never get old. Big thanks to both, roll on season 9. Please, please, please get Tony G to show up.
+1 million

There's lots of cash game TV poker. The Triton cash games have more interesting action. But Gabe and AJ are what makes HSP special.

Just finished season 8 and am going to go back and watch some old seasons. Is there any consensus on which one is the best?

Yeah season 4 for sure in my book. It has it all.

Whichever season Brad Booth shoved on Phil Ivey is the best.

i mean you can’t go wrong starting in season 1 or 2 and just watching them all until the commentators change (Norm? I think takes over and the action becomes much worse at the same time).

Norm's not bad at commentating, just not as good as Gabe Kaplan (along with AJ Benza). But yeah season 7, the one Norm commentated, was one of the most boring seasons.

Yes, it was a little rough in there with the change in commentator, the new room and the loss of some of the 'active' Players. It's pretty hard to replace Sammy, Jamie and Guy all at the same time. IMO quite a few of the regular Pros were getting into some debt as well and with poker evolving I think a lot of the 'gamble' in Player's games was being cut way back.

Norm is, well, Norm, definitely an acquired taste. Just too much change all at once for any show to have a smooth transition. GL

While a new 'season' of PAD has started (13) there hasn't been much chatter about HSP. IMO it will be hard to put together since the WSOP is late this year and that's when these get filmed I believe. Trying to get that many Players schedules to align is a task and it's also probably a higher cost to produce than PAD.

PokerGo is making a hard push to improve and provide value for the cost. It remains to be seen if they can keep the ball rolling. PHell has some Twitter posts about the possible losses involved, but CKatz doesn't seem to be wavering in his resolve. GL

No idea how the platform could not be profitable. Very low investment in content (compared to movies and series), a rudimentary platform with very little maintenance, and the entire WORLD as your market (where most/some platforms are limited to a country as small as Belgium for example).

You could probably run it with 3 or 4 people.

Easy not to be profitable, how many active subscribers do you think they have? I think in a very generous estimate lets say 10,000 that would still have them operating at a loss. More likely closer to 5000 active subscriptions.

Their market is the world. US should count for at least 5000.

I for one now people from 3 different European countries with a subscription.

They should have at least 50.000, but of course if run properly should easily be around 200.000

I would absolutely love it if every backer was named with their % listed. I understand many players probably wouldnt want to play, but if it got big enough they would eventually have to and divulge that info. I think it would make televised poker more interesting, or at least just different.

A twitch streamer, for example, is 80% backed by 50 of people. Have a live cam and Show the twitch streamers reaction when their horse wins. Or Phil Ivey is staking JRB in a high stakes game, pan to phils reaction when JRB piles $350k into the pot with 108 suited vs. aces.

Why? You guys are taking a fun entertaining show for fans and want to ad this complicity? No. Who cares, not our business. I just enjoy the entertainment!

It doesnt have to be this show. Its just an idea for any show. Televised poker rarely changes the format. I really miss when shows tried to be different, my favorite of all time is the loose cannon from pokerstars. I wasnt a huge fan of the shark cage though.
