It seems like your group's primary contention is that the players who are winning the most money are not winning as much money as they think they should, an argument that will not win you much support.

Even though I don't play on stars, I obviously support your goal to reduce rake. However, as someone who is far removed from the high stakes online MTT world, I think you guys are come off like a bunch of entitled babies with absolutely no leverage, and the long-term results of this boycott will reflect that. People are hating on Gzesh for questioning your organization, planning, and follow through, but he pretty much hit the nail on the head with respect to the necessary components for a successful effort against any organization in power, much less a multi-billion dollar, hegemonic corporation.
Point of clarification, I was asking itt about follow-through post event, and think OP and his gang of 250 did a stellar job. A truly solid organizing effort. Asking follow-up questions is more of suggesting areas of inquiry than doubting anyone's work thus far.

(I did ask one guy whether players who post in this thread are prepared to treat those who crossed the line as "scabs" get treated in social the context of a labor dispute. Calling someone a scab, an appropriate phrase in context, should be more than empty talk if used.)

Look, MTT tournaments, even "reg-infested" ones, can build a site like Galfond's or boost a site like Party. Stars will notice growth by the competition in that genre and may act to defend its turf. (It was how Stars grew up originally 15 years ago.) This is not the first rodeo ever, believe that operators pay attention to other operators' moves.

The strategy that would have worked best:

Get all the players you could on facebook groups and stuff and agree not to tell anyone about it.

What happened was a bunch of mid level guys heard the sharks are not playing and then they registered it.

Seems unlikely that you could have kept it secret but that was the only possible chance this could have overlayed, imo

Everyone should act with their feet now. Don't skip one turbo event, withdrawal all your money and play on the other site. Not sure if PS would even notice still, but that would create a little hole in PSs bottom line at least.

Here's a new reaction clip from Joey Ingram.

https://twitter.com/Joeingram1/statu...22105969012736

"...so it will be interesting to see what happens. PokerStars... watch what's going to happen. I predict they will do some very, very unpopular things coming up here over these next few months. That's my prediction." -Joey Ingram

EDIT: I maybe should have posted this in the Poker Life Podcast thread since it's not a direct reaction to the boycott, but rather talks about partypoker trying to become a facsimile of what PokerStars once was -- while also pointing out that former PokerStars streamers liberally promoted the Stars Rewards (aka "Chests") program.

At the end of the day, you either want to play at Pokerstars, or you don't.

That's it.

It's not a job agency or something like that.

Not to be a contrarian, but boycotting one tournament does nothing. A company who serves a product to consumers doesn't lose market presence when .00000001% of their company is being boycotted.

I understand it must be the ideal, but the ideal should instead be to create a hearing in the presence of US regulators (and other countries who regulate poker to the same extent); which is ultimately the key to opening up competition and therefore, providing consumers with more options, so we can choose ourselves whether a company such as Stars is worth giving our money to.

Either way, best of luck to you.

After an abject failure like this boycott, the only move left is to loudly declare victory and then never mention it again.

I’d like to hear from one of the organizers if they were able to get into some kind of productive dialogue with PokerStars after the boycott?

Before that failed cash game boycott a while back, Stars was basically “we don’t care, go f yourselves” and afterwards “told you so, suckers”. If this one at least managed to open a conversation, that would count as a small win.

IMO Stars will start care only when their investors will start to care.

More open conversation and better communication channels with stars competition might be what come off this boycott.

Stars is dying, it's just a very slow process.
I don't know a great deal of things, but the one of the few I do is Economics, which I studied for several years, before learning this (poker), which many people in this thread do a great deal better than I.

Companies don't go out of business in one day and they don't lose market share over night. Obviously none of what I say is groundbreaking news, it is just what I see isn't perhaps focused on a lot.

So if taking days and tournaments off and withdrawing entire bankrolls extends past isolated incidents, then...

Competition will grow, offer better services (tournaments in this case) and Stars will be forced to respond, rather than stay in their position of power. Possibly, as Party begins to gain more, in respect to Stars, other sites will follow and there will be more choice.

I'm kinda confused though, its not like theres a ton of 2nd tier regs who have $5200 to drop on a TURBO event. i guess everyone is staked like 90% for stuff these days?
