Negreanu managed to find 14 cashes in August, mostly of the min cash variety.

i think overall they are pretty closely matched. However in sit n go formats, and the turbo style mtt i think negreanu seems to be better than hellmuth. In HU NL hellmuth might be better. normal ring games, it seems they are both break even or losing.

Anyone paying attention to Hellmuth's current WSOP run? Talk about Godlike from the GOAT this year.

Impressive but impossible to root for.

He is so far ahead of the field. Few can even comprehend his epic greatness.

I think Phil has a drive to achieve, possibly even to prove himself to 'everyone', that no one else is matching. Motivation/drive enhances focus and focus is required at all times in poker.

Not to diminish the stats, but lots of other Players are satisfied with their 'stretches' of greatness and move on to other things in their lives besides poker. Could any of them matched or surpassed what Phil's doing? We'll never know.

GOAT's need 'qualifications' and there's no doubt that PHell qualifies as the best WSOP Player of all time.

There was a list of bracelets won since 2004 on Twitter and it tells a much different story than the all-time list. But PHell is still on the top of that list .. it's just much more condensed, which leads an easy debate door open. GL

Well ahead in POY standings, which I don't think he's won before .. and I don't think he's ever really mentioned the way DNegs has as a goal. The interviews will start to become interesting to see if he falls into the 'I just played bad' in a couple spots or if he will give more than a passing accolade to his opponents.

He commented something that I've found myself getting caught up in .. where even though you had a good session you're still thinking about those hands that got away or that could've been played differently.

I constantly remind myself of the butterfly effect where if you change one thing in one hand that all the other hands that follow would've changed as well. So if incorrectly folding a pp bothers you just remember that by folding when you folded, how you folded, allowed you to hit that gut shot 4 hands later, so to speak. GL

It's even more impressive when remembering that, a decade ago, Phil was given criticism here and elsewhere for being a one-trick pony who had only won bracelets in hold 'em events (his first 11 of them). He's spent the past decade turning that criticism on its ear, winning 3 non-hold 'em bracelets and finishing second in the Poker Players Championship.
