So now they're just throwing that out the window and presenting some gimmicky match few people could possibly give a **** about because it's not legitimately competitive? It's really a 'bad' spot for Phil so to speak. If he loses all hell breaks loose and if he wins he wont be able to cash out until at least Level IV .. which is at least what we want to see in DIII. GL

They Ivey / Dwan "waiting in the wings" thing was obviously the carrot that makes the donkey (= the viewer) continue walking forward.

While not an opponent I hoped for or expected, this does set up an interesting situation. If Hellmuth wins, is this guy going to exercise his challenge for $100k? I would suggest probably not. So we get someone else in at round two. If this player beats Phil, they can’t cash out until after the $400k round, so we will potentially be in a more interesting situation in the long term than we are now.

Of course Phil could just continue crushing everyone and cash out again at the $200k level.

My point is it's a really dumb direction to go in, when the "Phil Hellmuth inexplicably dominating players who trash talk him" is such an amazing and compelling angle. They somehow found one of the few HU opponents for PH that I could consider a snoozefest and have little interest in watching. There were a hundred better directions to go in, players who would've gladly accepted. It's just such a complete and total whiff, I mourn for the viewer as well as PokerGO

Yeah I’d be all for these heads up challenges being with random amateur competitors if they were filmed live every week, but it’s really dumb that they only take place less than once a month. There’s no way there’s enough hype or excitement for that. If they wanted to make heads up challenges a product worth subscribing to PokerGo longtime for they really need to up the frequency big time. Right now it’s a total joke.

Have Hellmuth and Dnegs ever got drunk together? Dnegs used to be able to suck back multiple Coronas with ease and be happy the whole time! Would be cool if they have. If they haven’t, they should!

In all the years of following I've leaned both ways with these two. Although DNegs did have a 'crew' back in the HSP days, I can't imagine that they haven't drank/ate together many many times after working a fish over 'together' .. or even collaborated their Twitter wars for PR purposes. I wouldn't be surprised if they both had a piece of PokerGo or at least are in 'constant' discussions with Cary Katz on development of the 'site'.

Phil has made statements that Dnegs really has few 'friends' outside poker acquaintances. DNegs certainly hasn't hid the fact that he's been a bit of a recluse during the CV period.

My feeling is that DNegs has probably turned a few cranks in developing his poker career both on and off the felt in a 'business is business' way. Being aggressive in that manner can make it tough to be chummy 'off camera'.

I'm not so sure they see each other as feared/hated rivals, as they have both taken different approaches, as much as they both are driven to be as successful as possible. They both will always think that they are comparing apples to oranges since if either of them gives an inch that would show 'weakness'.

It will be VERY interesting to see how DNegs attitude progresses if he continues to run bad (below variance?) for an extended period of time. He bubbled the $$ in the PG Cup #1 Event. GL
