Hellmuth vs. Negreanu "High Stakes Duel 2" Confirmed - Page 2 - Poker News

Hellmuth really is a great marketer. Gets himself back on the show without having to play Esfandiari for 400k and after trashing Negreanu's game plays him in a highly luck driven SNG rather rather than any reasonable number of hands in a cash game where he'd be be punting an enormous amount of money by playing.

I think that was the format of the show, he’s allowed to end the challenge after three wins

I guess from PokerGo’s standpoint that want Phil to “Defend” his title at the 50K match rather than not at all.

Just looking at the line above, even at +128, PH looks slightly the right side in a sitngo format.

If we were talking 10-20K hands in a cash format then I would have Dnegs a much bigger fav than -250

Pokershares has the odds at DN 1.63 and PH 2.36, is it just me or is betting on Phil printing money in HUSNG format? DNegs would for sure win in a normal format but this feels like a coinflip.

Coming on the heels of the Polk loss you know Dnegs is going to be feeling the heat. If things don't go his way early I can easily see him going on tilt - especially with Hellmeuth's needles.

Phill Hellmuth is a pretty terrible player (relatively speaking) and will get crushed pretty badly.

Its strange that the same people who are questioning the odds were the same people who saw the Polk/Dnegs challenge and somehow didn't notice that the odds of Dnegs winning a single session was vastly less than his odds of winning the whole challenge!

Its even more bizarre that Dnegs himself seems to be ignoring the very same math thinking he is a 2.5/1 fav in a single sit n go.

I was hoping to see Hellmuth vs Polk, but there is no way Phil would agree to the same format that Doug had against Daniel.

So what I can gather, this is just one SnG? In the SnG format, it should at the very least be best of 7, even then luck will be the deciding factor.

This seems like a 'made for TV event' where the organizers could care less about a format that favors the more skilled opponent.
