Hellmuth thinks he can beat durrrr, Ivey and Antonius in cash games

05-06-2010 , 12:23 PM
Even after getting a pasting on HSP and every other cash game on TV in the last 3 years Hellmuth thinks he can compete against PA, Ivey etc etc.

Just read this quote, pretty funny:

I ask if he views himself as being better than Brunson, durrrr, Ivey and Antonius. ‘In Hold’em? Yes – in tournaments and cash games,’ Hellmuth insta-answers. ‘If I sit down and play those guys right now, will I beat them?’ He hesitates and seems about to say ‘maybe’ before changing tack. ‘I haven’t been practising enough. But I still think that if I played with them every day for a month, I would beat them. Maybe they would beat me for the first two or three days.’

The rest of the article talks about why Hellmuth thinks he had such a crap 2008-2009, quite interesting.

Why doesn't Hellmuth just donate the money to Haiti or something? He will save himself time, emotional pain, and get a tax receipt at the same time

Whats with all the Phil Hellmuth crap today in NVG?
05-06-2010 , 12:26 PM
Not really anything new.

I don't even think Phil believes what he's saying.

If he actually thought he could then he'd play them. That's why there's always action at the nose bleeds -- each player thinks they have an edge. Phil doesn't play because he knows he doesn't have an edge but he could never admit it, not even to himself.

[X] There are no sixty-year-old NBA stars still playing, but there is Hellmuth

Hellmuth acts like Hellmuth, NVG acts surprised.

If Hellmuth sat down at a 500/1000 ring game on FT I wonder how many minutes it would take for it to fill up..
05-06-2010 , 12:46 PM
[ ] NVG needed Hellmuth to say he thinks he can beat them to know that he thinks he can beat them

Probably faster than The Ferguson freeroll qualifiers on FTP, which usually takes under two minutes (2500 max) to fill.

At the WPT the table everyone was slagging him off, saying that he's an old man and he can't play poker anymore. He told them all he was sending them broke lol

Reading the Poker Player article now:

"Look up ‘Phil Hellmuth sucks’ on Google and 11,800 entries appear. There is a Facebook group that takes the insult one offensive step further (and the group has 165 members), Two Plus Two boasts more negative comments on Hellmuth that you’d care to read . . . "

Must be big with the EU now.

Poker Player article "Has Phil Hellmuth Lost It?"
05-06-2010 , 01:22 PM
"‘This year my goal is to become a full-time poker player again,’ he says, adding that he expects to win another 13 WSOP bracelets over the course of his lifetime."

lololololololololol

"Honey! Honey! I layed them 10:1 on me getting 13 more bracelets, and those idiots from northern europe BET ME!"

This quote is awesome: "Not long ago, Hellmuth himself came up against the hate when an interviewer told him, ‘I don’t believe what everybody says about you, I still think you are a great player.’ Hellmuth relates this to me and fumes as if I had just three-bet him with 7-2 offsuit"

HAHAHAHA

05-06-2010 , 01:46 PM
Is there any actual proof of Hellmuth thinking?
05-06-2010 , 01:54 PM
Actually that's a pretty good article. Haters should spend the time and read it. Hellmuth admits that he made several mistakes in the last year.
05-06-2010 , 02:00 PM
yea i enjoyed the article in its entirety as well

The article kinda made me excited to watch Phil play this year (I'm usually not). With reserved judgment of course, but still. There ARE things that PH does at a live table that no one else does (+EV things) - if he really puts in the time and effort to make an imprint this year, that's a possibility I'm looking forward to.
