What's there to wonder about? The quote you've provided says nothing about Internet poker being illegal, nor does the article. But even if it did, it would be incorrect, just as you are.

Post 64 suggests you see a connection between the frequency of use of metaphors and whether or not the thing they refer to is legal.

I'm saying there is no such connection as the sources of metaphors can even include things which are clearly illegal, such stabbing people, or having an elephant in the room with you.

Spoiler:
"And let's also not forget, Dude, that keeping wildlife, for uh, domestic, you know, within the city — that isn't legal either."

Phrases from poker that are going to crossover into real life in the next 20 years...

Up The Ante
Pass the Buck
I Fold
I'll see your ... and raise you ....
Ace in the hole
Bing Blang Blaow

Personally I can't wait.

Actually the article says this:

"So what exactly is happening right now in the three states {New Jersey, Nevada, Delaware} to have legalized online poker?"

Poker phrasology does seem to be more mainstream today than it did ten years ago.

“Chip and a chair” will be next to be stolen. That one must have started in poker right?

Are you really going to keep fighting this battle?

Yes, that's what it says. I read it. Three states can regulate and legalize online poker without it being illegal in other states, which is exactly what happened. I mean, we could argue about whether "legalized" is the right term, since it wasn't illegal before that, but when something isn't codified explicitly as being legal (which isn't the same thing as being illegal), then I suppose it can be legalized.

This is making me think about that time Latoya Jackson said she invented headbands.

The NBA and NFL seem to have appropriated blocker from poker.

Anyway, any news on the opening date for OP’s new casino resort?

Some people in Colorado want to recriminalize marijuana but I have to feel the state is "pot committed".

I just heard someone drop the term "implied odds" when it came to the new NAFTA deal. Actually I'm not even sure implied odds is a poker term.

Kind of OT but how is it possible that CNN only reports on the Kavanaugh trial lol? To add some actual thread content I heard some talking head refer to the Kavanaugh trial as a "zero-sum game" a few days ago.

Do you suppose there'd be a Penzoil commercial with the phrase "stop and go driving" if it was 2001? (STTFers might be the only ones to get that reference).
