Guys who go study CS as undergraduates aren't trained to be coders. They are well rounded in theory and practice of data structures, algorithms, security, OS design, high level vs low level languages. Given a choice, I'd go back to university to become more well rounded.
Coding camps are laser focused to train people for junior/mid level developer roles. I don't see how existing university grads with jobs can be displaced by bootcamp graduates. Does it create more competition? Yes. Does a formal degree look better than a twelve week course? Absolutely. Won't phone screens and on sites weed out the good from the bad? Yes.

He is definitely an outlier. His salary is more in line with what the some of my peers are making. Credit him for negotiating hard on bonuses and RSUs as well as having multiple offers bid against each other. Anyone hoping to make that coming out is unrealistic.

I think universities are doing just fine.
