The book was great, the movie was actually pretty bad. Playoffs are fun as hell to watch but a total crapshoot.

The A's are run more intelligently than almost every team in baseball and have been for a long time.

I never read the book but the movie was great. It had enough mass appeal that someone who doesn't like or follow baseball could still enjoy the movie.

Here's a Haralabos story from 10-15 years or so ago. Haralabos rents a lamborghini, but they want him to pay some outrageously high daily insurance rate on it. He offers to post the total value of the car as a deposit, but they say no. He pays the insurance, rents the car, and then slams into a concrete barrier when he returns it.

Overseas players have been heavily scouted and coming over forever. Giannis case was as simple as Cuban having final say and while hindsight is 20/20, I can imagine that getting old pretty fast for a GM. Cool. I win more, end around $7000 for the day.

Next day play again and win 5000 first session and 6000 later that night. Running good and game playing like play chips.

Next day I'm winning again. I'm running the table, Grey Hoodie dude (Bob) sits covering all (no cap then) and instantly takes the game over. Bunch of hands where he clowns me.

QQ UTG+2, I bump to 60, two calls, Bob bumps to 300, I 4b to 950, he calls.

flop J45r he checks I bet 600, he c/r to 1800... I tank for a bit then shove. Terrible, I know, but 2004 this is the nuts nobody plays streets we just value jam/bluff huge.

I really shortened the story to keep on topic, but this part was horrifying for me.

I spent a decade blowing up giant bankrolls that I built playing games way over my head, this one weekend was the perfect microcosm of my life in the 2000-2010 timeframe.

I've spent the next decade building businesses, but 10000% want to go berserk again.
