Hachem Snaps

Amongst some incredible commotion on the tournament floor, Joe Hachem has just lost a monster pot and almost became involved in a physical confrontation with T6 Poker player Woody Deck!

We caught the action in the hand on the river with the board reading {A-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{3-Hearts} and Hachem with an 80,000-chip bet into opponent Peter Traply. Traply thought for a few moments before making the call, showing {A-Hearts}{10-Clubs} which was good to collect the pot worth over 200,000 chips. Hachem calmly tapped the table, saying "Nice call" as he proceeded to muck his hand.

That's when the real action started. Woody Deck, who was not involved in the hand, then asked to see Hachem's cards. Hachem replied that he didn't have to show since the winning hand had already been shown, and the dealer proceeded to muck his cards.

Deck then said to Hachem something along the lines of, "Are you trying to angle shoot or something? Don't be an *******!"

Hachem, who at this stage was standing up to walk away from the table, then turned and in an incredible outburst, leaned across the table over Deck with a barrage of intimidating replies!

Hachem appeared set to physically take Deck apart before Antonio Esfandiari lept up from a nearby table and held Hachem back. By this stage security had stepped between Hachem and the table until things calmed down. Hachem then took a walk outside to cool off as the crowd frenzy settled down and play returned to some normality.

I hate when people take this rule out of context. lol at guy telling Hachem he's angle-shooting.

man, a clip of this would be unreal. I'd actually be afraid of a Hachem fight. Seems like a pretty strong dude.

Why would you even say something like that after the guy mucks his hand? It's just a douche move on Deck's part.

But as it's told in OP's post, Hachem wasn't out of line at all. I'd do the same if someone accused me like that.

Why do people continue to show hand first when they're the caller of a bet? If the bettor was forced to show hand first all this crap would be solved.

Or we could just concede that if it didn't matter to the caller, it doesn't need to matter to the rest of the table and say "next hand please".

You've never seen Hachem on TV pull the peekaboo stuff when he's ahead and he's afraid to look in fear he'll get sucked out on?

It is not this simple, more often I would say it is the bettor that causes the problems. By this I mean, he will be called, the caller will be waiting for him to show his cards, but he doesn't. He will just kind of sit there and wait for you to show, or maybe indicate that he thinks his hand is no good and therefore wants you to show first. Usually the caller will oblige and show his hand for whatever reason, and it probably saves more problems than it causes rather than forcing him to show his hand first.

Though in a serious game I always force the bettor to show his hand first when I am the caller, for the info of his hand if nothing else.
