Nevada passed a law specifically authorizing gender and age based promotions.

I was the one that gave WSOP the idea to use that law in this case through posts here and on twitter right after the law was passed.

I'm not on twitter but I'm sure some true feminists are complaining about it as they should be. It's sexism against men and an indirect admission that women are inferior to men at poker. Whether that is actually true or not is irrelevant as the existence and support of a women's only event is in and of itself an attempt to level the playing field for women in the male dominated activity of poker which is where the admission lies.

I doubt he did it purely for the ev.

Saw some speculation on twitter that it involved a prop bet... Not sure if that means that playing the ladies' event was the pay off of a bet he already lost, or that he had bet on how well he would do in the event (which would obviously provide some additional value for his $).
