No card sharing is needed with sharing equity and I'm not sure what the article is referring to but I assume it was something like that but would like a native french speaker to comment on what actually happened.
Also... it's a translation of someone who lost money. No one likes losing money, especially at a skill game. That can hurt one's pride. He sounds a little defensive when he says something about how he wins at live poker. So who knows. Even with a better translation, it's hard to be certain whatever he said here is 100% accurate or proven, or, in context of such a short interview, by any means complete.

He lost that money a long time before hosting the One drop which I doubt he would do if he had a pride issue about losing money when everything is legit. Who knows but I lean the other way on that...

So they were sharing equity and having unlimited bankrolls which is worse

Consider the context, he's talking to the press about a subject that much of the general public is not too knowledgeable about, and he knows it. So he can spin it however he wants or make exaggerations (especially in light of the FTP scandal), doesn't necessarily mean that he believes what he's saying 100%.

If they were free-rolling him because they could always "borrow" more from FT knowing they wouldn't ever need to "repay" it, that's uncontroversially scummy.

If they were soft playing each other or teaming up on him in game, also uncontroversially scummy.

If they were all playing as they otherwise would have, but had pieces of each other such that the game was in effect everyone vs Guy, it looks really ****ty, and it probably is scummy to have done that without Guy's knowledge, but its certainly no worse than any SHR event nowadays.

Yes I would love to see the proof but from watching interviews myself on Laliberte, I would doubt he would hint at something morally wrong and there be no reason other than him being sad he lost money.

When he was on the Big Game (Pokerstars tv show) he would say he pretty much is a fish in the game but loves the game.

This is pretty bad if true, hope there is a follow up on the interview.

There was never a fair game on FTP. Look who ran it. Everything was shady. If you don't believe that, then you still believe in hookers that just started hooking the night you order them.

He's taking things based in reality such as pros not repaying FTP and exaggerating them, making it all sound like a big conspiracy revolving around him.

Regardless of how much money guy has, and it's substantial, it doesn't make what they did to him right. They equity chopped on high stakes poker, and they probably did the same and maybe even worse online. I see everyones excuse is "he would've lost anyway". Really? You sure about that because im pretty sure i'd take guy heads up against gus hansen in almost any game any day.

What happened to ivey online after full tilt. Most winning player ever, now can't win. Durr? Don't put anything past any of these scumbags.

Cheating will always take place at the highest stakes. That much has been uncovered for eons now, both live and online. IF bobby baldwin was candid and truthful he'd tell you he was scammed by doyle and chip reese back in the day.

He may be a figure off, but his point still stands. Also, he's not arguing semantics on the internet, so that's a plus.

This is not the point at all. Pride is what makes whales eventually quit playing - the stopping point rarely is related to financial reasons.

Hard to feel any sympathy for a billionaire complaining about losing money at poker.

I doubt he is asking for sympathy or even gives a **** about people feeling sad for him. Obviously if what he is saying is true, he wants people to know that said people, did something really wrong to him and he is basically warning people.

I'm not sure he is actually making this claim, but if the money that fulltilt "dished out" didn't really exist it's outright theft.

Yeah, I'm sure he's just being nice and warning us all about the dangerous high-stakes poker players because he's such a nice guy.

He's just mad, bro.

Do you know how much he is worth?
Nobody won any significant piece of the pie that he has...

So yah I'm pretty sure you are right, he is asking for sympathy

Yea but that money was stolen from all full tilt players. He's saying he was singled out.

You don't get it. Billionaires hate losing money way more than regular people do. You gotta be crazy greedy to become a billionaire in the first place. You think they make it there then all of a sudden don't care if someone takes their money? No way. Just look at the douchery of Sheldon Adelson. He spends an inordinate amount of time and money in his few remaining years on Earth trying to find ways to prevent other people from getting a piece of the pie and shaving off percentage points from his taxes.

Trust me. Guy is mad. These dudes are just wired that way.

To be realistic, however, he would have lost vs. these guys anyway. Sounds like something to blame his losses on other than himself.
i get the feeling he feels betrayed by what players were saying to him in the big cash games to get him to play online and what he perceives actually happened to him online. specifically, he learned about backers and swapping and shared bankrolls after he lost several million to a "team". shoulda talked to andy beal.

I guess that if any billionaire would really care about ethics, they would just keep like 100-200 millions for them and give all the rest.
