What if they just take the 1k and use it to buy crack?

Obviously there are implications to the differences.

I see two approaches here:
  1. Take your chances - it's highly unlikely, and if you get scammed, meh, you've got a story to tell here.
  2. If somebody verbally calls without pushing chips, or does the "one chip" call, politely ask the dealer to ask the player to move (perhaps) a stack of the largest denomination chips he has in front of him into the center. If nothing else, if something goes wrong, that will give you added ammunition when you complain to the NGC or small claims court.

It's kind of a personal decision, depending on how much you wanna rock the boat versus have a Plan B when the pot is supposed to be pushed your way. I'm honestly conflicted.

What's your opinion on more rake? Is it better?

I'll be watching them the whole time they are in there and I'll show them a pistol before handing them the money and threaten to kill them if they try to rob me. Just gotta pick the right bums for the job.

the 1 chip call is for losers that want the spotlight on them for 2 minutes while they count out the actual bet, mumbling about how they are so unlucky

Good, qualified, honest help may be hard to find among bums generally . You might start by looking at the airports for panhandlers or posting on 2+2.

Nah 2p2ers would be too savvy and likely to rip me off. Just gonna find bums who I can browbeat and who won't look at me in the eye too much. Tell them the deal give them some food and some crack. Find one or two bums to help recruit other bums and pay them small amounts of cash. Let them think they are in charge and running the scam and give them a sense of belonging and expertise. I'm practically gonna be running a small business. Giving back to the community. For the good of America. Let's do it!

Substitute "entrepreneur" for "bum" and you've got a "Tai Lopez" model starting.

Either that or it's a NYPK-style venture ....

Apparently the casino can't force anything legally speaking since it's each players' own money. They can only enforce table bets (pit games). Or so the dealers told me.
LOL, I must have been at the table with you when that happened. When I read OP I immediately thought of that and was going to post it.
