Being a dumb, careless, or even greedy person doesn't give other people the right to steal from you. It doesn't matter at all what type of person the victim is. It's ridiculous that this even needs to be said.
I have a theory that the type of person whose first reaction is to criticize the victim in cases like this would be very likely to victimize people in the same way if they knew they could get away with it. It's a very narcissistic mindset to think that people who aren't as smart as you are (or think you are) deserve to be taken advantage of.
Correct about victim blaming to a point but read the entire story.
This guy was perfectly fine with other people getting scammed if he made a ton of money. His issue with Wes isn't that Wes was scamming,it's that this guy was one of the marks when he thought he was on the right side of the scam.
Wes tells him they're manipulating the price and they're waiting for this big fish to be reeled in which will drive the price up so they can dump it. Does he say "I want nothing to do with this scam" and sell. No he holds because he thinks he's on on the scam.
Now if Wes instead was blowing smoke up his ass telling him how great this coin was gonna be, it's gonna compete with Bitcoin bc of reason x y and z etc. then I would say he was merely stupid and careless.
It's also amazing he clearly learned nothing from being scammed. He still justifies his original decision by staying something to the effect of "why wouldn't you listen to someone with a large social media following who tells you that you can 10x your money"?
If everything he said is true then Wes is a scumbag and scammer- but so is the guy who got scammed.
