Gus Hansen Has lost $16m+ on FTP

Big name player is a big time loser so far lifetime on FullTilt. His run has been especially bad since Nov. 2012. Since then he has lost more than $13m. Here is the report.

Just a downswing. Keep your head up Gus: you'll be back soon.

This really doesn't need its own thread it's already being discussed in plenty of other threads

saw him recently playing 3 tables of 25/50 PLO

I don't know how he continues either, he seems to drop 200k+ every session

Maybe Gus should try other forms of poker online.

I'm not sure how anyone could consider calling him a professional. It is more than evident that he is not capable of beating those games. Why is he still playing them?

Re: Gus Hansen Has lost $16m+ on FTP

It appears to me that Gus' ego is crushing him. If he were to limit himself to tournaments, particularly live tourneys, the guy would be crushing. If he were drop down a bit or do better at table selecting at the stakes he plays, he would certainly staunch the bleeding a bit and even possibly win, but he seems to crave being seen as one of the big boys of poker (understandably in terms of marketing himself but i doubt he's made 16 mil from repping sites and endorsing things) and cannot back down from playing the very best at several different games. I like Gus and enjoyed reading his book, but wonder how much longer he'll last.

You're probably right, but this it what makes him a really poor excuse for a pro poker player. Having that little control over your ego is not a good trait for a poker player. I mean, even people like Hellmuth DN have the ability to recognise their lack of edge in certain games. You don't see them trying to take on the online nosebleeds, but they're still able to be extremely profitable.

Anyone try that 200% up to $4,000 deposit bonus on Lock Poker? Sounds like a pretty sweet deal!

Re: Gus Hansen Has lost $16m+ on FTP

If you actually read the highstakes thread you'd see he really isn't that bad. It's just testament to how good the regs he plays are more than anything. I also think he's ran pretty badly lately - he's probably a favourite to lose but not by much. I'd say he's better than 90% of live pros and almost certainly everybody ITT (hands up who has played high stakes PLO!). FWIW, he was refused action at cap PLO when he made a HUGE upswing (like +5mm) a while back.

We don't know if he has run badly but it's a testament to how competitive he is.

Untracked Macao backgammon winnings also... 😮
