Soon we'll be able to see Gus Hansen playing more live tournaments.

WPT interview: https://www.worldpokertour.com/live_...-5002000-4000/

It seems he regrets bringing out his book:

“What really changed a lot was after my book came out, it seemed like people just never believed I had a hand, in their mind,”

I look forward to playing with him again.

I remember reading his book back in the day and he was actually doing somethings that turned out being correct before the general population was doing them. Mainly he was defending his BB super wide when the standard line of thinking was to defend much tighter. Hes obv a smart dude.

The book isnt what led to his downfall. It was his ego. He always had to play the highest stakes with the best players in the world. Obv having a book detailing your thought process while playing those high stakes games was -EV but if not for the ego he would of adjusted and played games he could beat.

If Al Franken consulted with Gus on seducing women he'd still have a job. Starts at 5:30.

proof

when i watched him at WSOPE, think it was the high roller, some of his VPIPs, opens, were so bad and loose(to the point where i think it was impossible to churn a profit). anyway, props, Gus is pry living large and seems like a good personality

Imho, Gus was great at exploiting the too-nitty world of pre-gto poker circa 2004-2009. Unfortunately, a few of the top pros were also ahead of the times and able to navigate large pots with gto-ish frequencies which cost Gus a lot of money. I have not read his book, but if it reveals the secret of how/why he often had total air, then that was never a secret at all.

I like Gus.
His biggest Problem is his Ego and Tilt potential. He never cared about what other players were doing and never got the idea he could outplay people by using his Image when his normal play wasnt working anymore.
Instead he played a weird superaggressive/tight mix thats easily exploitable.

another thing that shows his ego and wrong self reflection. His biggest success in 2010 and 2011 were heads up tournament results. But did he play any other heads up tournaments after that ??(besides a little one in ireland which he also won)
No.

But like i said. I like him and he is still one of the few great and famous characters in Poker so i hope he will make some comeback. Maybe a sponsoring deal would motivate him to play more and think about his game.

Which he needs. What i saw from him in the Kings cash game was horrible. Normaly he wouldve lost big there.
And reading this thread makes me think his appearance at the high Roller wasnt that great either.
So Gus should def think about his game and better not invest too much money in high cash games or tournaments....
