What the warning apparently looks like




This seems very convenient for them after their sponsored pro Fedor Kruse was outed as cheating as seen in the other thread recently, now in under two weeks they have 80 names that are banned and money taken, just banned, and 40 warned? Without releasing any names of players who very likely play on other poker sites and might be known in the community.


With 13 accounts having money confiscated and it adding up to over 1.2 million dollars I have to imagine at least one big name pro maybe even someone playing the 100k-200k games was banned? What about the accounts banned but no money taken? were they losing in the games or did they all clean out their accounts before being caught?

Is this going to be another case of GG network banning winning players who they think are playing too good / winning too much? Or do they actually have a brand new sophisticated way to combat RTA and cheating that was not able to catch Fedor Kruse cheating? I foresee this having false positives and another shitshow starting up.

Ye it's a stunt, with victims, unless GG themselves have mapped every single GTO solution and they've detected that banned players use GTO plays 100% of the time. It's possible I suppose.

They really should name the accounts if they're sure they were using RTA. To the people asking how do they magically now know hot to spot RTA, maybe with the outing of Fedor they were able to analyse something about his screen/mouse movements that helped them discover similar?

Lol exactly this. What is a warning in this situation: "Hello, we've determined that the quality of your play is too high and unless you start playing worse we're going to have to ban your account and confiscate your funds".

A couple of points:

1) Top tier players DO play at a very high level with many GTO tendencies, this has been shown in analysis of the live player of Linus etc (that guy on youtube did the videos, I can't remember his tag). A lot of this is a by product of constant studying. I used to note down every trouble hand I played and then would run it through the PLO Matrix in post session study, lo and behold a few months later my pre flop play was pretty damn accurate. That said, a caveat to this would be it's very obvious when people are running hands through the matrix in real time as their timing is completely off, this is a problem.

2) If GG is sending out messages to these players warning that they could be banned due to the quality of their play (and this is a very good point Pads/Bencb made) then shame on them if they're not withdrawing their balances or at least the majority of their balances at this point, would just be insanely degen not to.

Sounds like good news to me. There is the fear of RTA and GG are showing that they take that fear seriously.

If this news came from anyone but GG I'd be all for it, but GG has a history of banning legitimate winning players. I wouldn't put it past them to use this as an excuse to ban players who were winning too much without even bothering to investigate them for RTA.

By their terms of RTA, do HUDs fall into their categorization? Never used one their TOA seems to clearly state they are prohibited (4.2 , 4.3, 4.4). That would mean a ton more accounts would probably need to get banned/suspended/warned??

how can they just warn someone lol. Thing with reporting, how am I, player who doesnt know perfect gto lines will know that someone is using RTS? GG sucks.

This makes no sense. Did they start their new detection method after the Kruse thing or has this been in process for a while? Have they detected 80 players in just a few weeks and are immediately banning and confiscating money? And if they have detected cheaters why are they giving out warnings and not confiscating money from them?

To me it looks like they are trying to look good by just banning people left and right w/o any sufficient proof of cheating

This doesn't seem great tbh, it sounds like if you play too well you're going to get banned and funds confiscated.

I applaud what they're trying to do but it could affect a lot of innocent users.

I've been thinking about the idea of a sort of worldwide anti-cheat database that all serious online poker operators join to crossover cheating bans to their entire network of sites. This has potential to be exploited but I think overall it would be great for the online ecosystem, Imagine a cheater getting banned from one site and then their entire identity(Name/Address) is now burned and ineligible for real money online poker everywhere that matters. I think it could be the one thing that actually deters what people consider "light RTA/semi-solving" as the slight edge they gain from looking up a solved spot doesn't outmatch the EV of never being able to play online on the main 5-10 sites ever again. I can see sites not wanting to get on board because some operators under the radar enjoy the RTA/bots as they print rake in inhumane volume but if only a few sites opted out I would think most bots/RTA users would migrate there and they would be known for it.

If GG detect a cheater, should Stars just take their word for it and ban that person as well?

Obviously not.

Should the sites share their evidence with each other? Yes.

Will they? Probably not.

i'm not saying, it's bad that they upgrade their systems or take this serious ... but everyone itt just cheering w/o questioning how GGP magically improved their security system in under a month, should really consider if this isn't just a cheap pr-stunt to calm down the masses
