As for the case. He was banned for bumhunting from the site and thatss fair enough punishment if he took it to far IMO.

The Important part is he was explicitly told to not reopen new account. When he did it anyway I support GG decision here to confiscate winnings if you are already banned. But not that they can confiscate from main account just for gameselecting like all pros do.

Try to see the big difference why he was banned first.

It's absurd that you can get your funds confiscated for simply winning too much.

As it stands now, they are opening the door to all kind of shenanigans like buying accounts to hide from rules. So that's another reason to take out confiscation from the wording, improved integrity of the game.

The bottom line is if your taking out consistantly more money than you pay in rake, they dont want you on the site. That goes for any site, but with the ammount of traffic GG now has they can afford to be choosey.

They can basically do what they want, as long as their player numbers hold up.

His money wasn't taken for bumhunting. He was previously banned on one skin and he made a new account on a new skin. This is why he had his funds taken.

This is NOT about so called "bumhunting".

This is about GG having a random ALGORITHM, that makes players get warnings sent to them on email saying they have been bumhunting other pros just for being in a lot of games with them. And having such TOC stating that these "infractions" can in the end give them the right to CONFISCATE actual money from people. - Which is ABSURD

It`s totally unpredictable. The discussion should revolve around WHY? is GG doing this.

Surely it`s is not about stopping bumhunting, since in practice real bumhunters will come back in disguise. While real regs get warnings even though they battle it out w/ other regs long after rec leave, battling to start games(w/ bad rake conditions) and whatever they try to do be good for ecology. The algorithms flags them anyway and should you get your heater on GG your entire balance could be in danger according to TOC.

Point is with GG now becoming a serious pokersite with regulation (Is this practice even allowed according to regulations?) they should make things more predictable for their customers and not threaten people with CONFISCATION for vaguely stated "offenses"

The WHY is very easy to understand. They ban the biggest winners and use 'bumhunting' as an excuse to do so. The reason is because it affects their bottom line when big winning regs withdraw money out of the eco system. Their goal from the minute you deposit is to absolutely shaft their players up the ass via absurdly high rake in order to convert their deposits into their own own bank accounts as soon as possible. GG wants every single $ deposited for themselves so banning the biggest winners from the site is a great model to achieve this goal.

They do not care about the idea of 'The Poker Dream' or anything related to professional poker. They are just trying to make as much money as possible.

GG have to do this to keep growing. Every time they do this they shift the equilibrium and that will cause growth.

Confiscation of funds is obviously outrageous but they've decided they can get away with it. I think a UK player could get there funds back in these cases but it's no certainty.

What do GG poker do if your a big winner in tournaments or Spins?

because it is impossible really to be a bum hunter in big tournaments or Spins.. so if they ban those people, then it is purely to ban winners.

Also for me its a flawed logic. Lets say for example that the High sTakes players.. Tom Dwan and Phil Ivey get banned from GG for being winners ok.
.. then Doyle Brunson simply becomes the 'new shark'. So instead of making say 1-2 buyins profit a week.. Doyle is now going to start winning 10-15 buy ins profit a week... so are they now going to ban Doyle too?... Then Antonio now becomes the new shark... so its a failed logic really..

But for me.. I dont even know who owns GG. But i do rememer when they started every tournament was majorly over laid.. by even hundreds of thousands... so they must have very deep pockets.. I even suspected the billionaires on Triton poker must be the ones funding it... But anway.. that alone is goof reason not to have vast sums on there. Usually I find I agree with the general consensus in matters like this, but I can't agree with seizing player funds when they haven't committed a crime.

Regardless of whether or not the player has broken the sites terms, I couldn't see taking their money as a fair or reasonable punishment.

IANAL, but I imagine there would be some kind of recourse for the players if they wanted to go down that path. Most countries protect against unfair contract terms, regardless of whether the consumer agreed to them.

Given GG are based in isle of man and they are providing a service to the consumer, players may be covered under their fair trading act, so it might be something worth looking at. Again not a lawyer, but if it was a lot of money, or there were enough players wanting to start a class, I'd at least look into that.

They only said they would do this to a repeat offender breaking the rules several times.

I don't know which players (if any) that have had funds confiscated and not returned, I was more just referring to point 12.6 in terms and the general discussion around 'deserve to lose your money' for repeat offenders.
