The reason why women can't compete with men in any form of mental competition is simple biology. Its not because men are smarter than women its because men are driven to compete against other men, women do not have this same drive. Here is the reason why, every woman on average has 1 child every second man has 2 children this disparity leaves men with no option but to compete with each other for access to women, the higher up the economic ladder a man is the better his access to women will be. Women marry above themselves on the economic ladder further pushing men to compete with each other. This is why men who are unemployed become depressed and its why the happiness level of women has been dropping since feminism sent women into the workplace.
Perhaps women just like men should be left alone to make their own choices instead of being exploited for other peoples agendas.

Face it, 99% of people want more women in the game not for equality, not to be white knight/SJW but to take their easy money. Fellas, if you really want to be a white knight you should be encouraging them to stay away from the table.

The argument that women are just as good as men in poker is garbage and everyone knows it. If you don't agree, please do a survey with the question, "would you rather sit at a table with 8 women or 8 men?"

Spoiler:
and the game can't be strip poker you dirty dogs

If 10%+ people vote that they would rather sit with 8 men, I will EAD and ban myself for being a misogynist.
I didn't know what SJW was and had to google it. I'm pretty sure a mod warned against devolving this thread the way you are attempting to. In my experience, the most vocal of the anti-women, pro-man crowd tend to be the most unmanly men around. They're so unmanly, they feel threatened by the very idea of a woman showing interest in what they enjoy.

Why do you care if more women play? They're clearly underrepresented at the poker table and their money is worth as much as anybody else's. So why does it bother you if getting more women to play will help improve the poker economy? Scared of losing to a woman? Would that damage what little sense of manliness you have left? Or are you just one of the clowns at the table who drive women away with crude remarks and lewd stares and you're scared of being told to knock it off?

you're projecting. he didn't say he doesnt want women to play, simply that they are inferior on average compared to men. which is true. you cant argue women are superior poker players when every single person on this forums experience has been that men are superior poker players.

i flirt with women at the poker table sometimes. its harmless. some dudes get creepy af and its cringeworthy to witness. i dont think i've ever crossed that line.

OP you want us to treat women the same, yet you create a thread implying they are special and desirable at the table.

this is how i view OP:

I don't think you fully understand what projection means and I suggest you read some of that guy's other posts if you'd like a glimpse into how anti-women he is.

I also suggest you reread the original post again and see that there isn't anything that suggests they are "special" in the way you are trying to make it sound. What makes them special and desirable at the table is the good it will do for poker to suddenly have half the global population feel as though they are welcome to pull up a chair and play.

Explain to me how promoting treating people equally to encourage them to play is a bad thing.

Men are not better than women at poker lol. This is the problem. Men thinking they are. It's all about ego.

For example:
I sit down at a table and a couple of guys will always feel like they have to give me advice and teach me. Even if I leave the table with twice as much money as them or their money, they still feel like they were the better players because they were "teaching" me. Women take your money and you feel good about it lol. Men refuse to see women as better than them, and women let men think this. Not just in poker, but in everything. Men need to feel like they are better, in control, in charge..... women let you guys think this because they know who is really in control. Lolmen

I have no qualms with a premise that, across the board, the average hoodie-wearing, sunglasses-wearing, headphone-wearing poseur at cheeseburger stakes may know more theory than many women at the same stakes. However, those males did not just show up with such knowledge...they were incentivized after they GOT to the tables and were getting their asses handed to them while the wallets were being emptied.

What scares some in this thread, based upon the posts that were dripping with misogyny, is that an influx of females to the poker arena will knock them down the totem pole and they will again find their wallets being emptied. After all, just as some regulars went and tried to improve, so to would women coming to the game. So in the interim, those males do what they can to be a-holes and just as anti-social as possible, which, in turn, dis-incentivizes new players (some of whom would be female) from wanting to plunk down their $500 (or more) and buy in.

It amazes me how some people can go so far out of their way from wanting to grow the player pool...but then again, we also have tournament directors that actively go out of their way to avoid schedules that would actually increase THEIR total player pools.

so you think that because you got winner in a game and left with more money that you are the better player??

what makes you think that men are not better at poker than women? do you think women are better or equal?

im not saying a woman can't be an excellent poker player, better than me, or anything like that. every person is an individual and we all vary. from my experience though, women are on average slightly worse players than men. it can be fairly simply summed up that in general they are not as aggressive. im not saying that I haven't played aggressive female opponents who were raising me frequently at profitable intervals. im saying they are less likely than a man to play this way.

women are calling stations. this tends to develop naturally because when a woman sits down at a poker table her male competition will try to bully, bluff, and run her over because they think they can push her around because she is a woman. this is why i would never try to bluff a woman. (you're getting called!)

lol because a bunch of rank amateurs playing more poker would knock them down the totem pole? they were already at the bottom of the pole anyway then.... the bolded sentence does not make any logical sense.

how are males incentivized to keep playing poker while there wallets are being drained? (thats a disincentive). are you suggesting that poker players being social and friendly is enough of an incentive to keep a loser playing(it could be)?

this whole post of yours seems paranoid. refering to "those males" a couple of times as though there are a lot of people who act that way and its some grand conspiracy of theirs to be rude to women. "those males" you are refering to don't exist outside of your head. not in the sense that you think they do at least, im sure there are a lot of jerks out there, but not every poker playing dude is a woman hating misogynist.

i try to be friendly and fun at the poker table and not make anyone feel uncomfortable. everyone should strive for that. good luck.

women are women. they are welcome to pull up a chair and play. little girls can play with GI Joes or Barbie dolls. which do they chose(generally)? On the masculine-feminine spectrum poker falls on the masculine side. women(for the most part) dont want to play an ultra-competitive game for money(more risk averse) against a bunch of dudes. nothing will ever change that so stop trying.

How come if I go to a yoga studio most of the participants are women? Does this mean I am not welcome to participate in yoga? What could we do to get more men involved in yoga??( Lets ask Alec T.) We need to make it so that half of the population will feel comfortable bending over downward dog in yoga pants.

Women who want to play poker will play. I don't think there's anything you can do to encourage more women to play. They either want to or they don't.

Here's to respecting women!

No ****. More people in the game = more money. But implying that women in general are easy money is about as laughable as anything else you've said. I know women who would probably destroy you at the table. This has nothing to do with equality/SJW/"white knights" or whatever other politard nonsense you want to interject into this. This is (or at least started as) a discussion of how to make our game bigger and full of more recreational players.

Hello Friends,

I believe a poker boom is happening with the female population and I am excited to see it happen! Already Vanessa Selbst has become probably the greatest NL Hold 'em Tournament player in the history of poker. She was probably going to win this year's main had she not ran into another badass female poker player and suffered a sick cooler.

I think a poker game is one place where woman are treated equally and really aren't used to it. Most men, especially in big cities, are *******s. But most of the time they treat woman and elderly people nice out of respect. But once these same *******s sit at a poker table, for decent stakes, respect goes out the window, and woman and elderly become the prey. And often times when they are "nice" it comes off as phony and almost predatory.

When men start to compete, they are no fun to be around. Kind of like in sports at a high level versus sports at an intramural level. At the higher levels of competition, people do all sorts of shady stuff to gain an edge. At lower levels most people don't care as much about the outcome and are friendlier.

So to get more people into poker, woman or men, people have to be less competitive at the table. In other words not try their hardest. Which will never happen. So to get loosing players to sit, they have to either be a degenerate or enjoy the competition. And most people, not just woman, are turned off by how competitive poker is. Home games are the most friendly environment, but they are illegal.

Serious question, why not ask to trial a women-only table at some of the larger venues?

As for who's better - the difference is small enough that it's better to judge each individual separately than going off a population read.

Having said that, I would be interested in explanations for why women make up roughly 5% of WSOP participants and have done so for decades, but rather than there being a woman at the final table every 2-3 years, we have only ever had one more than 20 years ago. What's going on?

Chess players asking similar questions to yours.

Chess forum, https://www.chess.com/forum/view/che...players?page=1

People suggesting men's IQs have a wider spectrum, more at the very top end, more at the very bottom end compared to women, as a key part of the explanation for why the top of chess (poker) is dominated by men, so not totally linked with player numbers imbalance.

Historically male v female in the fields of inventors, musical composers, writers, philosophers, artists etc show men far outshining women. Because of historical lack of opportunities for women the world may have to wait another ~500 years until this constitutes "proof".

What % of the top 1000 chess players are female? How about backgammon? Woman just don't care as much about competing in games, it's really not a bad thing.

Watching men play games at a high level, is like watching dogs play fetch. Not really sure why they want that ball so bad, but for that time, getting that ball means everything. Some dogs like playing, some don't.

In Illinois. I'm pretty sure they are illegal in most states. Sports betting too, even with no vig. Most of the time cops don't get involved, but eventually if the stakes get big enough, someone will put a stop to it one way or another.

"so you think you got winner in a game and leave with more money that you are the better player". have to ask this stupid ? of you. why do you play the game? my answer is to win the money. and if i win the money I am the better player. that is the only way to keep score at poker. keep watching nits check fold their way to min cashes. i would rather have been john hesp than any of the 3 who finished above him becusae he played to win rather than climb the payscales the way most of the folks on this site suggest to do. so imo you folks calling female players not as aggressive just need to watch the last 2 final tables of the main event to watch the nutless wonders of the poker world. and pls dont tell me that they are the brave macho men that scare us women cuz the only thing about them that scares me is the way they dress when there on tv at the final table of the main event
