I've posted this in the PokerCast forums, but if anyone is interested, I still have a bunch of Circuit episodes plus almost all of the PokerWire and PokerRoad podcasts on Dropbox. In fact, Joe Stapleton has graciously paid for half my upgraded account (since the basic Dropbox account could never hold this much stuff). Shoot me a PM and I'll pass along a link. And apologies in advance if I don't see it right away, too – I'm fairly hit or miss on these forums at this time of year.

PokerRoad Radio didn't come out until December that year, so you might be thinking of the great Grind Week Dumpster Fire episode from June 25, 2008.

As diehard fans will remember, the actual podcast version got lost somehow, so the one that ran on the feed simply consisted of Ali Nejad and Justin Shronk in the booth, mostly lamenting the loss of this otherwise classic episode.

The Blair Hinkle interview portion was rescued and released as the third segment in a subsequent episode. (I use passive voice deliberately, as I don't know how either came to pass.)

Here is a link to that episode.

Finally, here is the October 15, 2008 show when the tables quite literally turned, and Ole G Smith became the interview guest for PRR:

Go ahead and post the link here. You can always disable the link at some point in the future.

It may have been Poker Wire I was thinking of I could have sworn the one I am thinking of was the day after his 2007 PL Holdem 2nd place finish.

EDIT: Yeah, you are right indeed! I listened to it live and sadly didn't save it.

Holy ****!!!! Just learned. I ran into him at the WSOP and WPT at few times. Always thought he was a goofball, but a good-natured, stewed goofball. Awful news. RIP, Gavin. You will be missed.

Toasting you tonight, sir!

Is there a link to all the shows? I loved PR, one of the funniest was with Haralabob talking about almost getting in a fight with Freddie Deeb

All of the Youtube clips I have seen of Gavin Smith he is either toasted or devouring junk food like a maniac. He was the John Belushi of poker.....

Genuinely gutted to hear this last night. I kind of worked on a side project with him that gained traction just from a joke on Poker Road (anyone remember Shirt Road? It did exist for a while!).

Anyway, I used to love the PokerRoad podcast, and the biggest compliment I could give Gav is that when you heard the introductions at the beginning, my heart would sink a little if he wasn't on it - you just knew it wouldn't have the same energy that he brought to stuff.

RIP Gav - thoughts with your friends and family.

I don't know enough about the security of Dropbox to just post a link in a public place, but then again, there isn't exactly anything sensitive on my account. (In fact, it's mostly this stuff.) So here goes...

PokerRoad Radio:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/7g2g4giun...zGd83K8Xa?dl=0

PokerWire Radio:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/gdbjk3qs9...Vl8lntPua?dl=0

The Circuit (very partial archive):
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/qsbodbiwq...HAgWGH33a?dl=0

As far as I know, the PRR and PW archives are complete. In fact, there might be duplicates in there because of the way iTunes runs (e.g. if the episodes are renamed, it creates a new download).

Thanks Wilbs.
I've got a archive of shows on an old laptop that I'm not even sure I can boot these days.
You've saved me a lot of pain.

Another thank you, these are great links. I used to have the PWR and PRR archives in an iTunes library, but one that was made backwards-incompatible by the Cupertino wizards.

17 left at the BCPC ME and I had an all in call for my tourney life or the chip lead...Gavin and some other guys where hammered betting on what cards would flip up at the time was super annoying trying to make a decision with all the commotion. I heard him or someone say " I bet the older guy (not me) has AA he played it same way earlier" I had QQ....I decided to fold and the other guy shows AA. All though he had his struggles he was always fun to play with and a really good guy.

I may be wrong but I don't think I've ever posted here, in fact I rarely even browse this site anymore and it was just by pure chance that I was
googling something random that I reentered 2 plus 2 and came across this thread.

I didn't know Gavin Smith at all, except for watching some of the old
school TV poker shows, but I do have a Gavin Smith story that I've been
wanting to share and I actually feel bad that I didn't do it while he was
alive. So now is the time.

Anyway, one time I did play with him; it was day 2 of the September
WPT $3,500 at Borgata. Uncharacteristically Gavin came in with the short stack of about $16k. He must have folded every hand for about 2 hours, and finally he shoved his last $8k or so with a big draw and blanked off, losing to his opponent's top two. Nothing special to note; except throughout his time
at the table I wanted to tell the story to the other player's at the table but
with some regrets I never felt the time was right.

The Story- Let's start by dropping back a few more year's in time. I'm at
Foxwood's in November during the WPT series. Foxwood's has since dropped
the WPT but back then the WPT was a super who's who $10K buy-in.
So I'm playing a side cash game, I believe 10/20 limit, when an older
gentleman joins my table. He's not someone I particularly recognized, he was tall and I'd guess probably late 60's to mid 70's. We're playing when
the conversation drifts around to the tournament series and he mentions that
he's going to play the main.
Wow, a $10,000 buy-in, I'm surprised and impressed!

Me: "Wow did you win a satellite?"
Him: "No it was due to Gavin Smith."

well of course I new Gavin Smith by reputation so:

Me:"Gavin Smith?"
Him:"Yeah, well you know before he became famous he used to hang around
Foxwood's and didn't really have a lot of money. We became friends and
sometimes I would buy him in to some of the small daily tournaments that
Foxwood's would run and we still keep in touch. Anyway be that as it may, for this tournament series I booked a room and just 2 days ago I get an
envelope delivered to my room. I open it up and read the following:

"Why don't you come down to the poker room and pick up
your seat for the main. I don't forget my friends."

your friend,

Gavin Smith

I could see he was visibly moved as he told the story and frankly so was I
as I listened to it.

Well as I said I didn't know Gavin Smith but maybe in a small way I did.

RIP.

I listened to that podcast all the time on the way to and from work.

The Deeb fight story made me burst out laughing on the train and everyone just looked at me lol.

Gavin was great on there, could tell he was a likeable guy.

My condolences to his family.

On reflection, I think the title of this thread is actually genius and would appeal to his own sense of humour.

Gavin would never pass.

He'd flat call.

I enjoyed listening to Gavin tremendously and laughed so much, at so much of what he brought to the airwaves. RIP.

I've searched unsuccessfully over the years for archived episodes. As soon as I saw this thread I wondered what Wilbury Twist would write. I am so grateful to see how solid Wilbury came through. Thank you so so much. Helping Gavin live on, in a way. I just pressed play on first episode I've heard in years, chills.
