Pretty sure there was a show called Poker Superstars or something like that during the poker boom that had a similar format.

Know about Superstars and I enjoy the format so I was hoping for some other ones to try to watch. The person who I replied to made it seem like this was a popular format but I hadn't known of many.

Played with Kyna at Aria several times and can confirm, loud obnoxious drunk and berates the dealers and players. Awful for the table.

Is she a winning player?

I’m no GTO wizard but she seems bad and lost a few buyins from what I remember, then complained about what people were calling with when she lost.

Wasn’t there an NVG thread about her behavior? Shouldn’t be too hard to find.

Found it: https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/2...-room-1813148/

I kinda felt sorry for him in the end when he's walking all alone in the streets after the party. Seems like he doesn't really have any close friends that care enough about him to protect him from himself there, just letting him wander off into the streets at night drunk and aggro.

Lets see, off the top of my head "Late Night Poker". A group of players would play in 7 heats then a semi and final. 1st in a heat got you like 50k chips and 2nd got 30k chips or something like that.

Poker Superstars I've already talked about. Players play SNG for points. This was the famous Gus Hansen has to go all in every hand so he finishes in a certain spot.

There was Premier League Poker, group of players play a few SNGs, depending on how many points you got that determined your chip stack at the final table. This show was on for like 8 seasons or more.

Before High Stakes Poker was a thing GSN had a poker show called Poker Royale each season had teams of like 6-10 people that played SNGs....I don't remember the format that well.

Game of Gold is innovative in that they got rid of the host and forced players to be in a room and talk about what their teammate is doing, or you can watch Jungle take naps. As of now it seems like the format is play SNGs for points. If you win you totally take home $456,000 and everyone else gets nothing. Maybe they change the format in the next coming rounds though. Will they pick new teams, are they forcing the players to play a SNG of PLO, Razz??? Who knows. But right now its a variation of players play SNGs for points.

I’ve also never understood the hype around Jungleman. Guy is a mental case and one of the biggest dorks I’ve ever seen.

The women on the show:
The girls from India & Ukraine are pretty hot. Maria Ho used to be hot before she ruined her face with all the Botox & lip injections.
The fat chick sucks at poker and was kicked out of the Orleans for being a mean, obnoxious drunk.
- Couldn't agree more with the first sentence, Yo Viral and Carrell are hard to watch. Carrell and his version of "lets go" could possibly be cringeworthy enough to end that phrase in poker singlehandedly.

- regarding Jungleman , when he first hit the scene a decade of whatever ago, I couldn't have agreed more with you. But in the last couple of years I've done a 180 on him, when he is on streams he definitely adds value, at least for me. His poker credential have always been without question. But he seems to have fun with things now, dresses as characters and plays the part pretty well. It's funny to me at least, I'm sure he knows it goofy and silly, be he commits to it and I appreciate it. Whats the one character, "Mickey ......." stuff like that. Found his sleeping on this show funny too. Some try to hard because they need attention. Jungle seems to do it more for the fun and goofyness of it more then being desperate for attention. Like he does his schticks because he just don't give a fvck. But what do I know.

-the fat chick being nasty is a shame to hear. Thought it was nice to have a normal, everyday type girl player on the show. Thought she was attractive and looked a little like a heavier version of the girl from Succession, who had a unique looking hotness to me. Maria had that fake look to her now as other mentioned. The Ukrainian girl is super hot obviously . I'd like to thank those here who posted the nipple pictures, I kind of watch this show as I work on the computer and didn't notice them while I watched. Then people started posting here about her shirt and it being cold in there. Didn't want to have to rewatch just for that, then some "heroes" posted the pics, thanks again.

For those that are awake, ep5 is streaming live right now. Probably best to avoid spoilers for a little while, or use spoiler tags.

I suspect some egos might get bruised.

I thought the team picks were kind of wild.

Spoiler:

I thought Nikita Luther would go with David and Josh. Both guys being veterans of the poker world, as well as David having game show experience being on Master Chef. I have never seen Master Chef myself, but I know other reality game show competitions have strategy elements that can transfer over to other show formats. I probably would have gone with David when picking first.

I don't know much about Lukas Robinson, but he said he was a fairly new player who seems to have made his name as a streamer. I don't know much about Olga, but I have to speculate alot of her credentials come from being a fairly attractive female.

I like how the show kept the team format, but then switched to heads up. Its cool allowing different specialists to excel in their form of poker. I'm not too sure if the show format would allow for a round that involves deep stack cash game play for Andy's sake. Excited and curious to see what the next round will involve once the next team of 3 is eliminated.

The "so and so has reality game show experience" is completely and totally overrated. So far the format is play a turbo SNG, now they're playing heads up. How well they handled having Gordon Ramsay yelling at them as they make Beef Wellington is irrelevant. They only strategy I can figure out is try and make the most gold coins for the final which I'm assuming is a 2-6 handed turbo SNG with your stack depending on the coins. Jungle could go deep by snoring and farting in his sleep.

Thanks for these. Royale was just a normal tournament if I'm remembering it right. I'll have to track down Premier League Poker, that was the one I was remembering. Wish they did more than 4 seasons.

There is game theory and strategy in this show beyond poker itself. For this round, players have to balance between winning coins individually as well as winning team matches for them all to advance. Being able to advocate to your team which choice and strategy you would like to implement is a skill in itself that you will see in reality game shows like Survivor, Big Brother etc.

Like I mentioned, I have never seen Master Chef, so I'm not familiar with the strategy and dynamics there. But I do believe that competition game show experience does help.

By the way Atarirob, who is in your avatar? She is looking not too bad

Is this show for real? I tried skipping around randomly and it seemed like some reddit meme of a formulaic Survivor clone. Sweeping camera angles, suspenseful music, cringe dialogue pushed by production staff, etc.

As far as the dramatic music, if found this scene to be a bit much today:

Spoiler:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DyaUXQQPA7M&t=267s

1t around 19:00, Yoh Viral reraises with middle set to Nikita's hand of no pair and no draw. The music becomes more dramatic, as if that is some moment of suspense, with a flash to the countdown clock waiting for Nikita to act, when the hand is essentially over.

No need to need to draw it out anymore at that point and lets just move on.

Kind of curious to see if the numbers drop after Koons left the building. Can't imagine myself watching the Carrel Viral show tbh.

She had a straight draw though. My wife who has never watched poker (and loves this show much more than I do btw) didn't know if she should call or fold so it wasn't fully pointless.
