Did anyone watch this?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWt9Yo92gqA

I'm only 5 minutes in so I don't know the premise yet, but it looks to have some big names including DNegs and Arieh. As well as a shirtless Charlie Carrell

They're bringing in the players one at a time (I believe 16 in total)

This chick comes in, and Jungleman says she looks like she might a dominatrix.

The backroom stuff was more entertaining than the game. Pretty decent start to the show.

It was a little corny, but I liked it. Nice to have a new poker show.

I'm still in the beginning part of the episode where people are coming in and meeting one another. But from the trailer to this, it seems every line is scripted like a bad reality show, but with poker players who can't act worth a lick, so it's even more cringe.

I'll force myself to watch the whole episode, but I don't have high hopes, despite all the comments here and on Youtube extolling how great it is (plants?)

I really enjoyed it, honestly looking forward to the next one.

Watching the teams discuss hands as they are played is the real value there.

Though I do feel bad for that one England girl. The production really took advantage of her "scared of fedor" comment to make her look like some dumb blonde.

poker meets love is blind netflix production style. i appreciated the 30 minute intro with absolutely no poker. admittedly i didn't watch the whole thing but fairly sure there were only 4 hands televised in the 50 minute episode. kudos to whoever thought to cast footman tho

Also, the set is good, I want more Ali, and whoever lit this for television should be fired. Horrible lighting. Any close up is blown out and reflective.

Yeah, I got that feeling as well.

I'm a bit further along in the episode, I almost changed my tune because:

1. Intro where everyone shows up felt like a lot of them had scripted dialogue delivered terribly by most, a few came across like their dialogue was natural, more towards the end like Dnegs showing up

2. When they set their lineups and play began, it actually got me interested and felt natural, so I started to think "oh ****, maybe I was wrong and this isn't terribly scripted"

3. As the 4-player matchup continued, however, Olga starts asking that kid if he bluffed and he responds, and once again it felt like we were back in forced, scripted dialogue territory, performed by people who are not actors

And that's where I've left off at the moment, so still haven't finished the episode. But does still feel like there's a lot of Real World/Road Rules scripts being utilized that take me back the horrors of "reality television" where nothing is actually real.

I just got curious and checked 2 recent HCL youtube videos with comparable # views/upload dates. GG video has 500 comments, HCL videos each have 70-80. GG and HCL also have comparable numbers of subs. Maybe GG had their influencers tell their follower to post positive comments on the video. GG did bring some bigger names like DN and Fedor but still seems sus.

nothing sus about the first episode of something with a new kind of format have a lot more comments per viewer. my twitter feed has been full of comments from accounts i've seen around before praising this garbage, most people don't care about the poker and just want to see more of the personalities and this show hits that group hard

see , as someone who has never watched an episode of survivor/big brother etc I did not catch that and it could be because i am naive to it.

it felt really well produced and it got me wanting to watch more.

i hope all this isnt scripted.
i dont think they need to do that for this to be good

I've finished the first episode and still feel that a number of moments throughout the episode were scripted and the players instructed to say their lines, which makes them come across as, well, forced and fake.

As far as the comments on the video go, there are a lot of "generic" comments that are quite similar and follow the pattern of bot comments you see on videos, facebook posts, etc. meant to make it look more active than it actually is:

"wow, great video!"

"I love this!"

"really enjoyed, great format!"

Not that there aren't real people enjoying it too, but a HUGE part of social media these days is faking it til you make it, lots of folks out there buying fake subs, views and comments to give themselves a better appearance.

I'll likely give the 2nd episode a shot and see how it goes, I'm still on the fence with this show as I do feel a number of aspects of it are faked to try and create a false sense of drama or excitement.

meh...I can take it or leave it.

Right now its an over produced 4 player SNG with their peers shitting on or praising their plays. If you are a poker fanatic you'll love it, instead of FTP putting in a bunch of FTP pros in a SNG like the old Poker After Dark its GGPoker putting in a lot of GG pros with some scattered pros and friends. I'm sure there will be a twist at some point where the team will have to play against itself or something.

I don't think it draws new faces in the game. No one is going to watch this and think to take up poker, but its good material for those who are already hooked. I still think those early WSOP/WPT episodes drew people into the game because of the "Well I can do that, all you need is $1500-10k" It's nice that some established players get a nice freeroll for some GG cash.

That $456,000 gets chopped up right?

The best thing about the show is that Phil Hellmuth was not invited.

The worst thing is Charlie’s shirt.
