He mentioned on stream that he sold significantly more action on the side bets than his non-side bet performance. Funnily enough, I think he also said he had more of his action on the downswing vs. Veni than on the comeback, so he might have barely broken even for that challenge all things considered.

Final tally? Like 230k up? Sidebet included

Oh, and if he did sell a lot for the veni comeback, that makes total sense. I mean it would have been dumb not to. You are right, he might be even, better that then 1.5m in the hole.

Genuinely curious to hear if people think Phil had an edge over AF.

My intuition is no. AF has been in the streets almost every day for literally the past decade+, whereas Phil has been chilling in soft live las vegas player pools. Additionally, I doubt Phil has got much HU action in the past decade.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Phil isn't a smart dude, or an absolute crusher or whatever. I just don't think that he wins against the best of the best over significant sample sizes.

That all being said, he's proving me wrong thus far! Got a soft spot for Phil and I'm rooting for him.

Watching Perkins & Galfond play the first sessions, I don't think Perkins has that high of a chance of winning..

Probably not much higher then 0%. Unless galfond doesn’t care or let’s his wife play.

Correct, I recall this as well. Was asking for the source because I don't remember the exact exclusion list. Someone please post the link.

I don’t think was a list but people speculated that berrisweet and Linus would play him, not sure about others.

Never imo. Pg is mega good, but there is a difference if u play highstakes almost everyday, study and still win like AF did.

15k hands in PLO hu is like nothing. Make this a 100k hands challenge and the chances of AF not winning in ev with 3-5bb/100 or more is very low imo.

I ran some of the AF pg hands in monker and pg clearly deviates from optimal play. Not always but still so much that I would guess AF should win over a big sample.

Tbh would be freaking amazing if he could get a hu challenge vs berrysweet. I would pay to see that happening.

In his original blog post on the challenge, he listed those not eligible including sauce because they were part of his team:

Closest I can find in the original thread:

  • The 3:1 offer to training site pros is an open challenge - if I'm happy with the stakes they're willing to play (and don't have any weird suspicions or something), I won't turn any of them down. ...
...
  • The thread title is misleading. The "everyone" challenge is "reach out to me with a proposal." I am not guaranteeing that I accept any and every proposal, any game, any stakes sent my way and keep playing challenge after challenge forever. I'll try to play as many as I can while out of the US, and there will certainly be some extremely tough players involved. There's essentially no chance I get through 10 matches.
...
  • I'm not planning to spend millions on these challenges, but it's certainly a possibility. I'll be playing some people I otherwise wouldn't have at these stakes - yes, this is marketing for RIO Poker - but I don't think I'm going to be -$2m+ in EV. Obviously I could be wrong.
...
