The popular American programme High Stakes Poker will have a new host for its seventh season. America’s Game Show Network announced that Gabe Kaplan, the presenter for the first six seasons, will be replaced with former Saturday Night Live cast member Norm MacDonald. Kara Scott will continue to co-host the show alongside the new presenter.
Buy-ins for the game range from $200,000 and $500,000, with blinds of $400/$800, with a $100 ante. A GSN spokesperson said, “this season will bring together a mix of top professionals and wealthy amateur players, each eager to take the others’ money in a high-stakes no-limit hold’em cash game.”
The game features a host of World Series Of Poker Main Event champions, including High Stakes Poker regular and two-time WSOP champion Doyle Brunson, who will be making his seventh appearance on the show. He is joined by Johnny Chan, who makes his second appearance, as well as reigning world champion Jonathan Duhamel, who won $8.9 million in November’s WSOP Main Event.
The series was filmed last December at the luxury Las Vegas Bellagio Hotel and Casino. The three-hour episodes will be broadcast on DirectTV, and viewers with the 3D channel will have the chance to see all the action with a three-dimensional view. Season 7 premieres on 26 February at 8pm New York time.
