True story.
I once dealt at a charity poker tournament with Ben Afflack and Matt Damon. As dealers, we were told that we were literally furniture. We were told only only to speak when spoken to. We were most definitely not to start conversations with any of the "stars". Shut up and deal. Squared. OK.
So my first table every one sits down. There are a couple of minor stars (think Rick from Pawn Stars or Micheal Phelps). The last player to show up is Matt Damon. He sits down and like a boss he immediately announces that he will not respond to any Rounders nonsense.
The thing was, he said it in such a forceful way that he was probably kidding (with a smile), but with just enough assertiveness that a person could not be sure. So if you were looking to suck up to Matt Damon, you couldn't be sure if Rounders was the way to go. You probably had to find a different approach.
It threw enough of the other players off that I have to think that it was a masterclass at throwing people off of their expectations.
He was friendly and outgoing. He just knew his introduction would mess with people.
