I play it no limit but I can see it being played pot limit too.
Each player is dealt two face down and one face up card then preflop betting starts with UTG and ends with the big blind. After that flop is dealt.
There are 4 community cards on the board in total.
2 are dealt for the flop, 1 more round of betting occurs..
1 dealt for the turn, 1 round of betting occurs..
Finally 1 for the river and final round of betting before showdown.
Players can you use 1,2 or all 3 cards from their hand to make the best combination.
Its a fun game that I enjoy, tell me what you think or try it with your friends.
Perhaps also help me come up with a name for this poker variant.
Pretty sure OP is describing Oxford Stud. We played this game a lot in college, but with betting more like stud; ante's, a forced 1/2 SB bring-in bet, and limit betting. In fact at that time I don't recall even knowing about Hold'em, but would play Tahoe and Pineapple which were similar. Personally, I feel Oxford plays better as a limit game or Pot-limit game as opposed to NL. I would have to talk to some guys that were in that game, but we might have also played it as Hi/Lo. It was the game of choice for a long while.
