I haven't played in a while and since Black Friday and owners of FTP ripping off the players, PokerStars has been my haunt and no other.

Every time I went on FTP after PokerStars bought FTP it was completely dead, there was no action outside of NLHE and I couldn't get a game of Omaha HL or Stud HL or any fixed limit mixed games (this is what I play).

What's the situation over there?

Do you think FTP is profitable for PokerStars?

It's always going to be hard to reignite that FTP brand given what happened even though really it makes no sense to avert away now that PS owns it. I felt like maybe Stars should put A POKERSTARS BRAND on their adverts.

If it is still dead over there do you envisage any redemption for the FTP brand long term? Reasons?

I just think it was a shame because I preferred the more "playful" feel of the software, the cartoony avatars and graphics. Even the sounds are better.

Yeah I've been wondering why stars didn't change ftp brand name considering all of the negative publicity it received.

well, stars buying full tilt was part of a deal they made with the DOJ. i dont think they are really interested in rebranding full tilt and would just rather have most of the traffic on stars instead of splitting up player pools.

i dont know the exact date but its been like that for awhile now, around the same time the badugi species went extinct.

They had a really fun promo running in second half of December through the first couple of weeks of January for the Rush tables, called 'Gold Rush'. After playing for a while, a special table would pop up with three cards, with prizes on the underside of each - and which ever card you'd pick, you'd win that prize. Most of the prizes were small things, like a ticket to a freeroll, or a couple of FTP, but there were some $ prizes and Rush tickets as well.

The Gold Rush promo had a bit of a similar feel to the Jackpot SNGs, so they were super popular with casual players and the tables were pretty busy, even late into the night Canada time in January. Then the promo ended - FT seems to have lots of creative promos, but that one was especially great for the rush tables ... and it seemed like it might have paid for itself with the extra rake that got generated? Hard to tell of course if the extra people were those who might otherwise have played those same times on Stars, or if the promo generated extra traffic in the net, but it'd be awesome if they brought that promo back again soon!

But yeah that's mostly because that's the game I play most often - they seem to have lots of other promos that are fun as well for other games - I usually find out about the new ones on the Full Tilt Blog -> fulltilt.com/blog, like with the 'game of the week' promo ... maybe the traffic might be better on those weeks for some of the mixed games?

Cliffs: That Gold Rush Promo on Full Tilt was great

It seems to me that Stars don't really know what to do with FT.

They haven't really made a significant marketing effort to promote, rehabilitate, or rebrand FT, nor tried to move the player base over to Stars.

It's somewhat surprising give the huge investment that they made.

Stars only "invested" in FTP because by doing that it got the DOJ off their back.

Idk why but they haven't changed the MTT schedule in forever. Seems like they don't care about it at all.

judging the site's traffic by how much are non-holdem/non plo games played on it is pretty silly, as those games are completely dead anywhere but on stars (where they aren't doing so well, either).

you can see all the numbers on pokerscout.com, so i don't really understand what you are asking here.

I would love it if they combined the reward schemes. I have my stars and FTP accounts linked, but why play rush when I have no VIP status on FTP?

They changed all the buyins a month or 2 ago, and have tinkered with other things in the past few months.

It's only getting worse though, almost pointless playing there apart from Sundays and FTOPS.

They were marketing pretty aggressively in Canada like 18 months ago. I guess they've abandoned that strategy.

ftp really needs some innovation...the themes and lobbys are so 2008. and its still not possible to play mtts on the app. ohhhhh ftp was so great around 2010 with rakeback and thousands of players. today you have to wait forever until a sng opens...rip ftp!

They need to give Gus another $250k/month to become their sponsored pro.

Amaya figured they could save money by firing Gus and Viktor, not endorsing any other pros, raising rake, and reducing rakeback. like Gandolf said, if you kill the dream of becoming a pro, the company will follow.
