Never knew if it was a true story or urban legend, but there was an anecdote from a customer service rep that floated around during the days when email forwards were a thing.
The story goes that a customer called into a support line, complaining that her computer wouldn't turn on. The support representative went through a few troubleshooting tips, then finally got down to the basics in her effort to help. The convo then went something like this:
Rep: One more thing, can you check to see if your computer is plugged in?
Customer: I can't tell.
Rep: Just follow the cord and see.
Customer: No, I can't tell because it's too dark.
Rep: Why is it so dark?
Customer: Because we're having a power outage.
This thread reminded me of that story.
