Weird that Full Tilt/maybe Full Tilt's potential acquirers are prepared to hand out people's personal data to third party companies. Doesn't fill me with confidence in them tbh as I really don't know if that is legal in terms of data protection. At least not in the UK.

And if people with current balances on there might have to receive staggered payments or a penalty would a similar payment system be in place for people making new accounts/new deposits?

Having said that seems like it is a good sign for people with money on Full TIlt - hope it is.

It could be that it's FTP employees doing the thing too ya know. If not they probably only got a bunch of phone numbers without any info.

Seems like an -ev decision to hand out player database before sale is finalized.

Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free

Yeah because now that they can call you, evreyone will just go to their new site without getting paid first? That's not how it works.

I expect that they simply gave a list of player's forenames & numbers. There's no reason for the surveyors to know more than that. I don't know the legality by country, but some places certainly allow it, particularly when you're signed up to receive email newsletters.

Re: FTP Spanish players contacted by Group Bernard Tapie partner by phone

Let me start off by saying I think this is somewhat good news for those of us that actually have $$ stuck on FTP BUT...

There are a few major red flags here. First off, how(where?) do they hope to get licensed as it clearly appears that they do not intend to have full player balances available which is the main reason the AGCC revoked the license in the first place? So I'd like to see how they plan to work it out first

Secondly, what is going to be done with the US players? None of these options are applicable to them, and the idea floated about that the DOJ should use siezed funds to repay players and go for clawback from owners to replace those already siezed funds seems like a daydream (nigtmare from DOJ perspective) so I don't see that happening either .

Next, it seems like the investors are looking to put up just enough funds to keep the site operational without actually meeting the requirments they are supposed to adhere to, much like FTP was doing up untill the got busted... only now I guess the new investors are going to be upfront about it

Finally, in order to get a feel for how likely it is this is going to work out (which indicates they are not yet commited to a deal but are seriously considering options, so both good and bad news here), they are resorting to making phone calls by probably illegaly giving a third party personal data, that was itself likely obtained improperly in the first place .

SO botom line is this is extremly bad news for those of us looking to get back a site where we can be secure in our knowledge that it is being properly run and abiding by the laws and regulations that will ensure funds are properly segragated and that no such incident will ever happen again.

I suppose since they have to get a new licence anyway they can just get a new shell company for that purpose - new company, new owners, new management so a licensing body should have no problems issuing a licence. This new company technically won't owe players anything but will be crediting their FTP balances as a 'bonus' that needs clearing.

Well, based on the reports they must also know account ballances...

But the thing is that sharing such info would be illegal in many places and not only did they get the info from FTP, but then passed it on to yet another party that is actually runnig the survey instead of doing it "in house."

So as I said, while this may be a step forward to at least get partial repayment of account ballances, this apporach (both with the nature of the calls and repayment options being offered) is a huge step backward as it relates to establishing a reputable site that people should be willing to trust with their funds in the future AFAIK.

So they're giving my private info to random third parties?
Great step towards regaining my trust.

LOL, I like how you think, seriously not a dig. But if that was the case why wouldn't current FTP owners just do that? I mean you can argue that this new owner somehow got his hands on a player database and wants to go to great length to win them over, but it's a rather thinly vailed attempt at skirting legal resposabilities, and even if the AGCC is crazy enough to go along with this scheme, I would argue you'd have to be even crazier to trust this "new" site with your funds any more that you can the current one.

Does this imply that FTP or the new guys have all the balances correctly figured out, or are they just "fishing" to see what players might accept and do balances later?

This the later (IMHO).

Just because some persons are investigating the feasibility of such an option doesn't imply it will be enacted or not.

If it's not possible due to rejection by enough contacted players then it becomes much less of an OPTION.

Personally think all players should be given a choice and those with considerable balances allowed to withdraw some monies whatever they can choose. Both because they need to pay for RL stuff and also because it instills confidence and trust in new owners.

Well much in the same way that the gaping holes in the concept of the ISPT tournament at Wembley calls into question (for me at least) the suitabiiity of GBT to run FT properly. IF they have passed on player's personal details in contravention to any countries data protection legislation (and I do say if), again that would be another red flag for me. I certainly do not want any company passing on any of my personal data (such as the possible size of my poker balance/name/home phone number) without my express permission.

Re: FTP Spanish players contacted by Group Bernard Tapie partner by phone

So GBT are test-marketing three different methods to avoid paying ROW players in full if they reopen, to see which method meets the least resistance.

And somehow this is good news?

If the AGCC give out a license with any of these schemes in place, it will further sink their reputation (already on the bottom of the Channel, but now digging into the Chunnel.)

Are they telling you what the percentage is going to be? I think people would be pretty thrilled to take 80% of their rolls tomorrow. 20% not so much.
